Zain and Jmook is the most back and forth IMO. They are tied 11-11 in sets and most have gone the full 5 games. Cody is the only Fox that is competitive with Zain and its close overall but a clear edge to Zain.

why does commentary still call FD a freebie for Zain, when Cody does really well on the stage vs Zain, at least in recent history. obviously this set is a very strong showing for Zain. idk it just feels like some people who should be the most in touch with the game are still holding onto narratives from like 5+ years ago that don’t hold water

@@thecheatdotcom Cody is 5-3* (I believe, I did check before commenting this) on FD before their sets at Riptide from BoBC, The Match, and TBH11. This isn't meant as a "gotcha" or anything just meant to answer your question. Commentators are people too and I have no vitriol or disappointment for the odd narrative of Zain/Cody on FD they ran with at this tournament. Just found it strange they were pushing that narrative so confidently despite recent data showing it's not really true. Certainly they just didn't know/had the wrong idea, it's Marth/Fox FD after all, this has been the story for literal decades. Just took me out of the set a bit, speaking for myself.

THIS IS HOW ZAIN IS SUPPOSED TO PLAY CODY with the 3-1. For to long zain was playing what I like to call the wall of swords which to me is a scary way to play marth which gives fox too much space and he is not punishing enough and or missing potential combos. This is how zain used to play cody and how he needs to play him going forward.

Tbf, when Fox locks in it can be really easy to fall into the wall of swords strat. Fox is basically a bullet when he’s playing well which can be scary af and it’s a comfortable/timid way to rely on the swords range to beat fox Nair/drill/shine or whatever. With that said, I 100% agree with you still. A combination of different dash dance tempos and some sword swings here and there with the core strategy of finding a grab is the best solution.
