I agree. It’s not that we dislike Roman vs Rock, we dislike how we got here. In the process of getting to this point, WWE did the following: 1)They buried the WHC 2) they buried Rollins 3) The buried the rumble 4)They made Cody look like an idiot 5) They ruined the Rock as a character 6)They ruined our excitement for Rock vs Roman even if they tried to revisit a 1-1 match later. If the Rock won the rumble, the match would have made sense. People would likely still be pissed but it would be far better than what we got.

Actually feel bad for the WWE wrestlers atm, they just feel so embarrassed to work for a company that allowed Vince to do the things he did, they’ve potentially cocked up their biggest show of year with injuries and the Rock. HHH who’s given them them the best booking they’ve had in years (apart from this rumble) might be replaced by the Rock and his writing team - the same team claiming the plan was rock vs Roman all along this year. Only way I can see them winning this back is if they manage to successfully work an angle where Cody gets his win at mania and the rock somehow is either heel or out of the picture but I think they’re in too deep now

I think the Rumble booking was fine, it was the swerve that ruined it. Cody pointing at Roman got everyone hyped for the next two months... Rock showing up out of nowhere ruined the whole dynamic. Now if he pointed at Seth we wouldn't be as excited (I would, I love that rivalry), but the fans wouldn't have been as upset. There were multiple ways around this. Imagine Rock being a surprise entrant at EC and winning it. Again, not the best option but keep in mind Rock's writing team is booking this.

Naw the timing is still bad. This was 100% Cody's time; the rock and roman could have happened anytime later, preferably at one of the big four PLEs, and it would have been hype, Cody and roman needed to happen at wrestlemania, it's the climax of his storyline, he has beef with Roman, he wants romans title, there's no other way you could have it. You can't drag this on another month let alone another year, the momentum of this specific bloodline story with cody is already waning.

I’m team Rock simply because I resonate with his character more. Ironically I only started liking Cody when he began his feud with Roman. The Rock vs Roman has been years in the making. It’s the encapsulation of the entire bloodline saga. The whole point is to ask the question: who is the true head of the table? Whilst Cody’s story is inspired and endearing, it’s futile in the long term because Roman ain’t dropping the belt until 2025. Furthermore Rock hijacking the main event is to distract everyone from the Vince McMahon controversy. It’s all mis-direction. A simple tactic ensured to remove McMahon from the algorithm by giving the fans something to invest in. The Rick’s insertion has caused a huge rift which effectively diverts the narrative from negative press. It’s an impressive work because it puts Cody over even more whilst allowing the Rock to fulfil his legacy and reinforce nepotism within the hierarchy of the WWE. Having said this, the Rock is limited this is his last chance to have this match. Cody has longevity, there are many more opportunities for him to finish his story. If you understand wrestling at its fundamental core from a competitive POV, it’s always been about taking your spot at the expense of another. Therefore what Dwayne is doing is nothing new. Regardless as to how y’all feel, controversy creates cash.

I don't think it was HHH because he had been setting up this storyline with his writers. Say what you will about Hunter, but he isn't the type to abruptly undo all the work he's been building towards. It just doesn't make sense. Like seriously what would even have been the point of the Royal Rumble if HHH was fine nuking that entire storyline. If it was his decision, then he made the entire Pay-Per-View he had been planning for months completely pointless. This feels like corporate meddling. Like the company is in panic mode because of the PR Crisis swirling around Vince. So they thought bringing a Hollywood star like the Rock back would be a distraction and crowd pleaser. We know TKO owns the WWE, and the Rock is on the board. And the Board + the Rock have veto power over HHH. So this def seems like them stepping in and trying to correct the ship during the Vince situation. It also feels like them stepping over the writers and story planning that was already in place.

As much as love Cody & Rock both, this was just booked poorly. The Rock & Reigns is THE bigger match objectively, no doubt about it. That match’s appeal to the international market is supremely bigger as compared to Cody & Reigns. I live in S.E. Asia and even the most casual of casuals are excited at the prospect of Rock vs Reigns. BUT, the impact of just “giving” that match to the Rock when you’ve already built up Cody vs Reigns II for close to a year now AND having Cody winning the Royal Rumble again to earn that spot will have long term consequences to the brand as a whole in terms of its core audience.

This is an afterthought. But rock vs Roman is huge money and popularity for the company. Why not book Rock vs Roman the same way Rock vs Cena was booked. A year in advance after this years mania, and make it so that reigns status as heel stays relevant and the bloodline story continues for more time with some crazy twists. But that’s just me. It’s getting everyone talking, I think it is a work and I think Cody will be in the match. Notice how even the commentators have mentioned the #WeWantCody was trending for 3 days and openly acknowledged Rock’s booing. Triple H loves a swerve and so far he’s done an amazing job along with the creative team, since Vince departed to keep the fans surprised, yet engaged. Like the Punk return, it had to be the very very last second of Survivor Series when probably many would’ve switched off their TV’s and gave up on the idea. They still managed to make it into a great PPV, even if Punk wasn’t to have returned. In my opinion, they’re really trying to instil the unpredictable factor back into wrestling and I think this is their ultimate experiment. There’s something odd about breaking the tradition and it’s even brought Seth Rollins’ championship into the mix and on top of that, Damien Priest’s Money In The Bank briefcase has gone under the radar along with Drew Mcintyre trying to take Punk’s spot. It’s got the whole community talking and theorising and that’s the kind of shit that Netflix want in their blockbuster TV shows. Last thing I’ll say is that I think they’re really milking the ‘Finish The Story’ storyline to see if Cody is the guy that can compete with the best of the best, which includes a legend like the Rock who just managed to walk back in and take the main event spot.

Man just when HHH booking was solid good continuously here comes the twist, and regarding HHH knew rock's coming to face roman is BS, cause we have seen a pattern in HHH booking he 80-90 does only long time storyline and as far cody's case its 2 years in making and i dont think HHH would just like give the shot to rock.
