Fantic has already done all of the R&D on both the Yz250X = XE300 and YZ250FX = XEF310 So why not tap into their technology but make a yz300x with an updated modern frame / ergonomics to take over the enduro world! I can’t wait to see what comes from this new venture for Cody and Yamaha!

Fantastic news! Fantastic company, fantastic rider. As a Yamaha and owner over 40 years, I switched to the orange bike simply because the YZ 250 just hadn't changed enough. While still an amazing bike, it just needs a few updates to keep up. I'm hopeful that a deal like this helps bring that to fruition. Is there a purchase list to get on? I'll buy one without seeing it! Take my money. With BK talks at KTM, what a perfect time for Yamaha to enter the off-road world and take over! I think its interesting that Yamaha brass was asking Cody how GYTR is viewed in this crowd... I can only speak for myself but with most of my friends, were only riding other bikes because the Japanese manufacturers have left us trail riders out in the cold. We've been waiting for decades for them to take notice and give us an option! We are a large sector of the overall motorcycle buying demo, why have they left us alone for so long??? Thank you, Yamaha! I sure hope this all works out-for Cody, for yamaha, for the sport of trail riding (enduro-hard enduro) and for us consumers. It's time! Come on!

Since Yamaha is already in partnership with Fantic for frames and engines, it would seem like it would be easy for them to use the same 300 2t that the Fantic use. I guess Fantic bought the motor manufacturer of the YZ from Yamaha a while back. Would be cool to see more Yamaha 2t’s, I bet even a new 500cc smoker would be popular.

Well with the latest developments with Pierer Mobility > Ducati, Triumph and now Cody & Yamaha this should be a noteable moment in dirt bike history. I'm especially interested to hear Cody's impressions of the HITLIS PV setup, having run it for some 90 hours on a '05 YZ with a Eric Gorr 295cc jug. It's no joke folks the power delivery starts early & healthy and goes smooth and usable all the way thru overRev. IMHO it rivals any other 300 hard enduro platform available. And Cody nailed it when he described Tim King as the YZ Wizard... his blue bike knowledge is deep! Cody, we are all excited to watch this next chapter unfold for you, giver Hell!

I love my yz250 buuuuuttt its not as awesome as my sherco 300. Its is lighter and the parts are easier to find tho. Here is a quick example, the chain guide mount that is welded to the swing arm is made for motocross and ive snapped it off twice. First repair cost $200 for a welder to fix it. Broke it again right away. Bought a lightly used 08 yz450f swingarm that bolted on perfectly. The linkage was different but that was easy to get used and I had to use a different hub and axle but I had one of those lying around off of an 05 yz250f. It all worked! Crazy! but then you have the issue with the stator being to small to run a battery let alone a fan or light.
