Great tips, Cody. I´ve been one of these finger style conservatives for years and because of you and Bobby Vega I am starting new pick-style chapter. All the bass.

just watched a video by this cat a few mins ago. All the respect in the world for mentioning Bobby vega. So many cats on youtube giving "tips" and don't honor/mention the giants on whose shoulders they stand that allows them to see farther

A great player and great demo. I might have a chance of doing something vaguely like this. I could never do the slapping/thumb-strike thing.

Something that helped me get a good sound out of a pick is learning to be aggressive. Much more so than my fingerstyle technique.

I use to play with a pick for about 10 years. And was a big Fan of Chris Squire of YES. But I felt I wanted to be a complete bass player. And being also a Big Fan of Geddy Lee of RUSH and a lead singer/Bass player to. I started playing with my fingers like Geddy,Flea and Jeff Beck. And many other great bass players. Plus you can’t Slap with a pick just doesn’t sound the same. I’m glad I can play both. It’s made me a much better player.

Just found you through Scott... killer chops and musicality. I'd love to also know if anyone else has a Zon bass or can say anything about them. Looking for something light. I had a nice Sadowski that was left in SD. Drag.

I use this technique myself as I'm a pick player. One question, do you really need the FretWrap if you're using a palm mute style ?

Yes. dampened sound regardless

IMHO the king of using a pick in electric bass is Carles Benavent.
