As a newbie, retiring in less than a month and beginning a new homestead with my wife, I appreciate your videos very much. The attention that you give to the small details helps me out eminently. Please keep pumping out the info and let us know how we can support you.

I can not believe this does not have at least 100,000 views! Thank you Russ!

Well, Russ, based on your endorsement, I just bought 6 mini reels. The geared reels get heavy with a lot of walking, they're prone to wind lopsided and jump the spool - and when your raking them in, you can have a mess before you know it. I've worked out different grazing patterns to use the minis, which I believe will also save some time in paddock set up/tear down on our farm. It was very helpful of you to show the fixes in advance. Nothing lasts forever, but the longer the better. :) BTW - I've found a difference in polybraid, I think. The braid from PowerFlex seems to be more supple and wind up better. May not be as big an issue with the mini reels though. I'll find out soon.

I think you'll like the mini reels. I agree the power flex and turbo braid is a lot more supple. Thanks for Watching!!

Do you have a video on your automatic reel winder?
@RussWilson2 жыл бұрын
@@simplynatural100 kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXSahn6Lh7GiZ5Y Towards the end of this video it shows the reel winder. I'm going to do a DIY reel winder build when I get a chance. If you are not interested in building one I could possibly build an extra for you.

I have lost my comment where I asked what poly ribbon you use on your 3d fences and reels? I'm having tremendous deer issues this year because of the extreme winter we're having and we get 40 to 50 deer eating off of our stock pile bales and pasture daily so I hope to do 3d, but wasn't sure what wide tape/ ribbon you recommended. ( The deer can eat a bale a day.....)
@RussWilson2 жыл бұрын
@@simplynatural100 Oh man you can't afford to feed 50 deer. We use 1/2" ribbon from kencove farm fence. If you have a lot to fence maybe a kencove geared reel would work. But mini reels are just as good just won't hold as much tape. You can build your 3d fence out of the poly braid and regular step-in posts. put some peanut butter on the wire that will help them smell it and get shocked. I do know if you saw my 3d fence video we did for our perimeter fence. Here it is has saved us a ton of money. Here's the link kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJWakIeEnpqZjK8 Here's another one on 3d fence kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHO0Z5qarciniqs

Thank you Russ, I am still in the planning stage. I will be working with sheep on a smaller property. Your insights on the mini reels are very helpful. As a gal I just do not have the hand strength to work with the bigger reels, and as you say they are more expensive.

I love to see the calves. They look great and so do their mothers. Some of them almost seem like pets. Great video. Those mini-reels look very versatile and easy and efficient to use. Kathy

Not efficient if you have to constantly fix them. Why does everything have to have a built-in defect

This video is perfect for me. I've just started using poly braid this and invested in a geared reel, but I should have done more research. My runs are less than 200', and these mini reels will be perfect. Thanks. LaVern

Russ I think as we get older the mini reels make more sense. There have been times I have had to use a big geared reel full of wire for a 20-30 foot section. I’m gonna contact kencove and order some. Thanks I always look forward to your next video, John
