All of his songs touch me in some way. This one somehow reminded me of my youth and how I was always gone out the house making my grandparents worry the whole time. Losing my grandma to covid last year I can barely listen to the whole song with a dry eye. I didn't spend enough time with her before she passed, so another song of Cody's that gets me is 'Til You Can't, I think everyone should live by those lyrics. God Bless you Cody, keep making amazing music!

so glad to hear guys like Cody Johnson in country music. we need more of the traditional artists like this. now i understand that all things evolve, including music, but there's nothin like a sad old country song full of fiddles and steel guitar rides so strong it gives you chills. keep up the good work Cody

I think the first lyric is, "Another Jake-Brake wakes me up to a...." A Jake-Brake is an engine braking system on large trucks that makes one hell of a racket. The damn things have woken me up a few times in highway motels. What do ya think? Jake-Brake...Day break...both work but its closer in sound to Jake. This is great country music without compromise and I'm just discovering him now. I predict that traditional country is on the way back and Cody Johnson will be leading and not following. Damn Son!

Why wait to be a cowboy? The color of the skin doesn't make you a cowboy. It is the hard work, the love in your heart for this great country we live in, standing up for your rights as a citizen of this great nation, standing by your fellow man/woman to defend her, helping your neighbor when they need someone to get the hay in before the rain, staying up all night helping the mother cow birth her baby, or the mare that is having a hard time; it is wearing your cowboy hat with pride and wearing your cowboy boots until they have holes in the bottoms, it is making the person you are with feel like a real human being..that is what a cowboy/cowgirl is. There are some of us that were raised on a ranch or farm, but you don't need to be a land owner or own horses and cattle to have a country soul. So buy those boots, wranglers, and cowboy hat and be that cowboy, even if it is on the weekends...but always be that country man every day of your life.
