Thanks for sharing this with us man. Best Yamaha yz250 content since they switched to aluminum frames in 2006 haha.

i do hard enduro riding here in mountainous rocky East TN on my YZ250x and I have never had to use a fan, these bikes never over heat as long as you keep the jetting reasonable. The Apex XC head with the gnarly pipe is a good combo to really smooth out the power but good low end torque.
@codywebb25 сағат бұрын
do you still have the stock radiator cap?
@BigEbikesports4 сағат бұрын
@@codywebb2 Yes and it has 150 hours on it already, still working like new!
@gary4443 сағат бұрын
Running it lean would have brought cylinder temps up
@BigEbikesports3 сағат бұрын
@@gary444 That is what keeping the jetting reasonable means... not too lean.
@gary4442 сағат бұрын
@@BigEbikesports I agree, it sounded so crisp on the other vid but Cody will have to make compromises, I used to run a TSP head on my 300 tpi and it did lower the temps

Awesome build! But Yamaha needs an enduro-ready WR! Counter balancer, electric starter and a stator that generates enough electricity, factory fan, a small lithium battery and a new engine! The YZ is cool, super light, but that engine consumes a lot of gas! Forcing the use of a huge tank that weighs a lot due to the excess fuel in it!

Also since you are shimming up the govenor on the powervalve it might seem rich mid to top. There is a power jet when you flip the carb upside down, take the bowl off and you will see a little jet in a hole of the rim of carb body. Stock is size 50, you can order a 40 through Rocky mtn ATV. Keep the bottom more on the rich side for low end torque, use the powerjet to lean up the midrange. Your jetting is what will keep the motor cool when running low speeds mostly.
@codywebb25 сағат бұрын
I've already got it swapped out for a 40 in there!

One thing that might help at some point, Get yourself a Keihin 36mm Carb instead of the stock 38mm. Easier to jet, better response and much better bottom end torque.

Could you reduce the pull on the fan with a resistor to bring it down to an acceptable level? Even if its running a little slower
@codywebb22 сағат бұрын
You could. But then you lose energy in heat. So it really doesn’t help

Why don’t we make radiator guards that accommodate a fan running in push mode and eliminate issues between the radiator and tank? I ran my sherco like this but lacked the necessary fan and radiator fins protection. I had radiator guards for side protection only. Worked fine.
