One of the best hymn tunes of the 20th century - one can almost picture an English pastoral scene; a meadow with cows grazing with the college spires of Cambridge in the background. Beautifully played!

Dear Archie, I've seen all your posts and I love them all! You're good! Please don't apologize for anything: everyone can see that you're doing your very best. Music is more than just notes... I enjoy your performances very much, especially the hymns. You are a lucky young man with all those wonderful organs around you! I look forward to next posts 😃 Greetings from the Netherlands.

A good standard of hymn playing is the main and most important element of being a church / cathedral organist, You are doing everything right Archie. Be self critical but not too self critical. You were playing the finest Cathedral Organ in the UK and quite apart from Ben’s assistance, you were in complete control of the instrument.

Wow, amazing organ and playing! Do you think there is an organ in this world better than this one?
@archiedavies753810 ай бұрын
Ooooo tricky question! I would definitely say it’s up there as it’s probably Harrison and Harrisons best organ they’ve built, however it doesn’t have a Chiffy flute which is unfortunate because I love them so much! Other than that, it is perfect in my eyes. They do have some absolutely gorgeous flutes on the great and choir divisions but they don’t have the chiff and attack the ones from let’s so Blackburn do, however I suppose those kind of stops wouldn’t fit the style of the organ as it’s very round and full. I also haven’t played any organs outside of the UK at all so I assume that there are other fantastic organs that I haven’t played yet. So in short, no I don’t think it’s the best organ in the world but that’s purely because I don’t know what else is out there. Other than that it is!
@TimvanElderen10 ай бұрын
@@archiedavies7538 I might agree with you. I played both Truro and Chichester in the UK. Both great, but Truro is just the best IMO. Have never played a CC though… there is one 20 minutes away from my university, must see if I can play that one
@michaeltreadwell77710 ай бұрын
I totally agree - Truros Henry Willis is by far the best in this country. The whole air moves in that Cathedral when that Organ is at full throttle - heaven on earth !@@TimvanElderen

@@michaeltreadwell777 certainly, in terms of bang for buck, Truro's 45 stops punch harder than anything else!
