Just got a 4080 and a i5 14600k combo. I wanted a i7 14700k but scalpers are taking everything here in my country and I was lucky I could find the i5. But now I'm a little worried it might bottleneck the 4080. Although many people on foruns and many tests prove the difference isn't really that much, if any, my anxiety gets the best of me...

Im currently rocking a i5 12600k and a 4090.. at 4k there is 0 bottlenecking and at 1440p every game runs above 100fps so it doesnt matter.. hope this answers your question about bottlenecking (you should be fine).

Very good video Varo, you have clarified some doubts for me, but I am not sure which heatsink to buy. Both the 14th and 13th generation of Intel, as you have said, are giving temperature problems. I was about to buy an I5 14600kf + 4070 ti Super to work with AI and 3D image and video generation, but the issue of having to put liquid cooling on it puts me off a lot. Is there any option in air heatsinks that are not too expensive to cool this monster?

When the 14700k is at 50% and the 14900k is at 30%, I'm thinking the game is more gpu based than cpu based. Maybe need more cpu intensive games

So, essentially, the current gen CPU steps provide the same performance as each of the successive last generation i9's. Thats crazy! an i5 14600k == i9 12900k, the i7 14700k == i9 13900K, like almost identically performance wise.

Definitely, I upgraded from a 10700k to a 7800x3d and saw a 50-60% improvement overall. I could've went with Intel, but I was worried about my case temperatures with a 4090😅

I'm upgrading from the i7-8700k to the i5-4600k. 😂 I mostly game, no streaming, no video editing, no multi-tasking, so another i7 just isn’t needed in my usage. It would just add more watts being used and more heat generated. And I’d probably have to buy a higher wattage PSU.

Notice that the biggest differences between the 14700k and the 14900k is when they are at the native TDP limit. Bumping up the tdp limit on the 14700k I think they would perform almost the same in most of the first person shooters we all play. Bumping up both TDP limits we probably see the 14900k pull ahead in SC and new games using all the ecores.

So for gaming only builds i5s make the most sense, 14 cores seems like plenty. My first pc was a amd fx6300, struggled and bogged trying to keep modded fo4 from crashing (game crashes enough without mods) Then I made a switch to a i7 7700k and what a difference Now I’m about ready to upgrade again but I’m not spending 300$ on an i5 or $400 for an i7 I’ll just wait for next gen. My gpu is also old but holding on

Always interesting when like 6 new channels pop up every release with roughly the same info in an attempt to beat out the big 3. I don't want to be pessimistic, but it sure seems like it would be easy enough to falsify a few accounts to get the views before the big guys clock in. At the same time I'd want to encourage competition, but half of the channels are deleted before I can go back and reference any numbers.

The main concern here is power draw vs other channel's 13th gen where all of your power draw numbers are well in excess of 30% higher. If it was 10-15% i'd fall in line and not have a lot to scrutinize, but something is going on here. Your identical gpu usage across tests also screams that something is going on.

@@razorgarf in my area the prices of 12 and 13 gen has been already been cut and the gap will increase as 14th gen starts to ship to retailers. Retailers have plans to only keep 13 and 14 gen. They just want 12 gen stock fully out of their shelves. So giving huge discounts now

@@penonton4260 even if i am drunk i can still see that i5 13600k in my area is already slashed by 9000 bucks…and 12th gen i7 and i9 are now upto 15000 bucks less….here my retailers do this frequently and very soon u wont find 12 and 13 gen cpus in their store…Same happened with other series too…before 14 gen launch used to sell only a few 12 lth gen and full lineup of 13th gen but did not had a single 11th gen cpu with them….so i always upgrade my rig on 2 genereations old cpus when i want to do cause going from 8th gen i58400 to 12 gen i5 is still much better…i dont follow the grab the latest harware trend…after all i just need to play few games thats all , so why waste money dude?

It's a refresh of the previous gen architecture, it's not gonna be worth the wait. Especially for budget builds 12th and 13th gen are going to be better price to performance. The 12100f offers almost the same gaming performance as the 13100f and where I live it's significantly cheaper than the 13th gen alternative. It's not gonna be that much better with the 14100f.
