These interviews are the geriatric version, the good ole American boy versions, if anyone finds time, watch an interview done back in 1972, called Winter soldier. These Vietnam Vets of all the branches tells it like it is and was, and I am not surprised to hear what 17, 18, 19, year old young men will do when given the chance and being reminded we need bodies so get them. I cant listen to these stories anymore told by the aging Vietnam vet. Only because I know they are holding back.

'they always flew in formation'. Not always, some Loaches hosting Fwd observers w artillery units, recon targets + report accuracy & adjustments. My father as an S-3 at Bn level = Major, on slow days fly low and try to attract fire, then call in artillery.
