@@milestonedmusic There's obviously an enormous influence of Stevie's music in Jonah Nillson's writing and singing, but the modal interchanges on this song are far more complex than Overjoyed, I'm not necessarily saying that it's better to be complex.. I still prefer "Overjoyed" (and all and any of Stevie's work). But I love this, it's like Stevie Wonder on speed.

While constructive criticism is always good, there's a whole bunch of people in these comments dismissing this cause it's not Dirty Loops. As much as I loved the stuff DL came out with, obviously it hasn't worked out and Jonah is trying to take his music in a new direction while still retaining a similar style, and even if it "isn't the same", it's not really helpful to whine about it not being Dirty Loops. For what it's worth Jonah, I really enjoyed this, and I hope others can come to do the same without it being attached to the name everyone seems to long for so desparately. ❤

Very nice, it's like early Michael Jackson! Dirty Loops was very original, but this has infinite replay value! The whole jazz fusion pop thing is music theory fan service, but it's a novelty. This is music you can groove to. Keep going man!
@AJDOLDCHANNELARCHIVE6 жыл бұрын
I hate music theory but love DIrty Loops.
@tomgiles14846 жыл бұрын
altrogeruvah I'd argue that Dirty Loops also has infinite replay value by virtue of the fact that their music is so harmonically complex. Are you saying you can't groove to Dirty Loops' "music theory fan service" music? Just because music that is immensely more complicated than the average mindless pop tune, doesn't make it simply a shallow novelty that appeals only to musicians well-versed in theory. Dirty Loops' stuff grooves just as hard as Coffee Break. I love this tune, however some could say (perhaps rightly) that it sounds like a jingle for Maxwell House or something.
