I lived in the West Indies for years and and it was just too hot for hot coffee. Now I drink iced coffee 99% of the time and this coffee is great. I have tried Jot and Javy and while they are both good I must say I prefer the Javy. I’ve never taken the time to break down the cost per cup/glass and I’m happy to see based on this video that my preferred brand is the cheapest.

I bought Cometeer Coffee. The FIRST order is 10% off so that is $1.50 for an 8oz coffee, yes. But thats only your first order. All your next orders are full price at $64 for 24 8oz coffees which makes them $2.70 a cup. I like to sip coffee through the morning so thats 16 ozs of coffee a day making it $5.41 a day. The problem with Cometeer is that unlike with the concentrated coffee you get a specific frozen container so you have to do 1 container or 2. You can't measure out more of less to taste.

All of these are just way too expensive compared to regular coffee in a drip machine. You can get roughly 20-25x 8oz cups of coffee out of a 12oz bag of coffee. You can still get really good coffee for under $15-20/12oz bag, which puts any cup of coffee well under a dollar. The convenience of the concentrates is just not enough to me when you consider both the added price and the (in my opinion) diminished flavor of the final product.

@@marcup1584 I'm not sure that's a fair comparison - this isn't really for the situation where you've got a grinder and brewer to hand, it's for work/hotel/travel where you might only have a kettle... so you're comparing it to maybe going out and buying a takeaway coffee, or instant.

I can honestly say that out of all the coffee I have tried over the past few years (since deciding I wanted coffee to be some part of my life, haha), Cometeer took me by surprise. I found myself making a cup most mornings and even looking forward to a morning cup of coffee to start my day. The flavors were not overpowering, but just right for what I enjoy. I will say that I have not tried a hot brew cup of Cometeer though, as I am not a fan of hot coffee, so my experience was strictly iced coffee.

Perhaps experiment with half-caf or decaf drinks! I’d be curious if it’s because of the caffeine or just perhaps coffee doesn’t sit well with you in general. I have a tough time drinking black coffee as well, I’ve found having it with a meal or with creamer is immensely helpful.

You may have a slight intolerance to the caffinol which is the oil (I think) but you can alleviate that issue with something like a tums
@crollo3212 жыл бұрын
I used to have that sort of problem. You might want to try lighter roasts of coffee or decaf, and definitely spread it out over a while. It might also be worthwhile to experiment with different kinds of milk and sweeteners in it, in case whatever you're currently doing is making it worse. Changing the time you drink it in the day might also help
@sazkie-chan93902 жыл бұрын
My mom always got a sour stomach from coffee until we learnt that a darker roast has less acidity then a lighter roast, I now brew a pretty dark roast and use lactose free milk for her (many people don’t do well with lactose even though thy aren’t intolerant)
@chemistrykrang80652 жыл бұрын
I second the above comment about lactose - most people have some level of intolerance. Regarding caffeine - most likely your tolerance will build up quickly and you won't experience the jitters... but there are good specialty decaf coffees these days too. I used to be Dr "Death Before Decaf" but I quite often drink speciality decaf in the evening now... and I'm not sure I'd wish a crippling caffeine dependence on anyone, you end up drinking too much bad coffee to get the caffeine.

back to the light roast by Klatch, prefer the light to mediums fro-joes, the commonality in all ithink 8 variety is the caramel, I wonder if in the process in which the joe concentrate is produced the sugars are somhow actually carmelized, so not just the typical yummy Maillard reaction from a good roast? The kinda kandy koffee experience in all, is interesting indeed, I don't dislike it, others I imagine will xoxox it. about all out of samples, I will be cancelling, but may order in the future. I just mathed a little. If you buy trade coffee (which is a coffee company I know distributes coffee in the US and is not the most basic grocery store brand), you buy a 12 oz bag for about 18 bucks (I haven't scrolled through everything, but most coffees on the first 2 pages are about like 17.50 without a subscription, probably plus VAT, cause you US people don't do that on a national scale. According to wikipedia, VAT is up to 10%, so you pay about 19.8 bucks per 12oz bag. Make it 20 for ease of calculation. If you brew coffee at a ratio of 60g/liter, you get 5.7 liters of coffee out of a 12 oz bag, if you brew at 75g/liter, you get 4.5 liters of coffee. That means you pay 3.5 bucks per liter or 4.4, in theory. If that equates to 4 cups a liter, you pay 0.88 bucks per cup if you brew 60g/liter and 1.10 bucks per cup if you brew 75g/liter. If you go with 8oz instead of 250ml, I get to 0.84 and 1.04 bucks a cup. That's with about ~10% tax. If you instead calculate with ~18 bucks a 12 oz bag, prices drop to 0.79/0.75 for a 60g/liter brew and 0.94/0.99 for a 75g/liter brew. That's cheaper than any of the coffee concentrates if you don't buy them at a discount or in a bundle or something. And the trade coffee approximation I used as an example for bean coffee also gets cheapter if you subscribe instead of buying a one-off. If you go to grocery store coffee, prices drop to like 5 bucks a lbs (according to this www.bls.gov/regions/mid-atlantic/data/averageretailfoodandenergyprices_usandmidwest_table.htm ) and a cup would then cost 17 to 21 cents. So the claim these companies make that they're a cheaper altvernative doesn't really hold water in my opinion.

Even judging this vs a 12oz bag of beans it’s not worth it for me. 15g of beans for 250mL (or around 8 fl oz) of water (based on Hoffman’s recommendation of 60g/L of water) 12oz bag of coffee is roughly 340g of coffee beans. 340g/15g = 22.67 “cups” of coffee in a bag. (15g/250mL) Assuming $20 for 12oz of beans (at the high end), this is roughly $0.88/cup. Much cheaper than the rest of these at it’s kind of highest price point.

Coffee that's heated even for a few minutes starts to oxidize and taste horrible, though - which is why coffee kept on the hotplate of a filter brewer is gross, and why nobody uses percolators anymore. I'm not sure how you could make your own concentrate without it getting that oxidized taste - I would assume that commercially they evaporate at lower temperatures using a vacuum to avoid the issue.

Your Review was precise and simple as Coffee drinks Go. I wonder if you ever made Coffee Ice Cream with any of these and noticed which ones were stronger? That's what's on my Wish list. Unless I should reconsider Espresso Instant for this purpose instead. Thank you so much.

These does NOT taste like "coffee". Maybe it taste like cold brew (which I do not prefer) which is missing that "bitter" note from coffee. Javy takes about 4x as much concentrate as advertise to actually make a cup.

I loved how my $400 Wolfgang Puck turned itself on full blast and had a meltdown in my kitchen during the late night, smoke detector saved me and home, my advice is not to fool with small appliances with high heat, they just can’t last very long and may be lethal.
