Ken Burns. The ultimate historian. Anything he produces is worthy of our attention. His gentle treatment of touchy subjects. His innate sense of the importance of human nature, both good and bad. He, himself, is a national treasure. I try never to miss a Ken Burns peek into our history.

Who would have thought that a documentarian/historian could become a national treasure? Surely, his mother is pleased! Thank you, Ken Burns.

Stanley Ann Dunham, Barrack Obama's mom, died in Manoa, Hawaii on November 7, 1995, just shy of her 53rd birthday. HER LAST YEAR WAS SPENT FIGHTNG INSURANCE COMPANY CLAIMS that her cancer was a “pre-existing condition,” and trying to get reimbursements for treatment. Barack Obama would later cite that experience as laying the groundwork for his push for healthcare reform.

Admiring fans of NICOLLE WALLACE ... all 4 L 's ... She has written political insider thrillers ..one can order and read. She is portrayed in "Game Change" by Sarah Paulson along with a stellar cast as she is left to shepherd the collapsing Sarah Palin in the 2008 campaign.

I don't like Burns.. he has a too strong commitment to "political correctness" in his films. Especially true of his mythological Teddy Roosevelt documentary. Teddy was an outspoken voice for white supremacy... he euphemistically emphasized the superiority of us being "Anglo Saxons" and had a "celestial obligation" to destroy Native American culture in favor of our indigenous people becoming "civilized" AKA just like us whites. The American Indian Tribes still hanging on in the reservation he sponsored.. most notable the Lakota Sioux... call Mt Rushmore as America's national monument to white supremacy.

I was upset by his sentimental treatment of the Confederacy .. the lost cause .. He has since expressed regret. He does explore sentiment.
@RussMizeКүн бұрын
@@donofon1014 if you carefully scrutinize his documentary narrations an element of political correctness emerges. He perpetuates our mythological validation of exceptionalism. Like other "story tellers" of his ilk he doesn't expose our true history.. fact based.... I assume it is due to getting funding for his projects. His "Civil War" documentary was great theater. I do however think his baseball one was great, valid etc. Our collective "love affair" with our somewhat biased views of your cultural heritage is marred with political correctness... we need story tellers like Burns to expose our "mythology" so we can move ahead.. yup I am progressive. I am also a US Army Vet.. native born.. and stopped our "Nationalistic chants" years ago in favor of researching history myself. You conclude I am "blasphemous" no doubt as America is it's own "religion" and to say we did something wrong... well, we continue buying the "product" of our self deceit accepting the "marketing collateral" used by self-interested politicians to sell their product: themselves.. based upon some mythical Celestial Authenticity.
