This is very inspiring, as a new coffee farmer who just started in 2024, i pray that God blesses me with good yields! Uganda is a blessed country just that we might not know how much blessings we have! For those with land no matter the size, start small and keep growing, agriculture is the way to go & the investment might not be as big as we think once there is land. I like the solar irrigation part, i don't know how much it can cost for the installation, someone with a contact can help and share, thanks.

Hi it looks good. Great work. Have a question. I dont see much shade, how did you manage to get good coffee. I thought it needs shade. Also, do you irrigate once in a week. What is the frequency?
@RenewLifeAfrica6 ай бұрын
@nagarajtk1891 the little shade you see there is enough, When its too dry, i irrigate on a daily basis, twice a day, morning and evening and when its not to dry i irrigate once every after two days

#100miz Thanks for the video. To understand coffee growing, let's explore the key aspects of this process: 1. Climate and Altitude: Coffee plants thrive in tropical climates with consistent rainfall and temperatures between 60°F to 70°F (15°C to 24°C). Altitude is crucial; typically, higher altitudes produce higher-quality coffee beans. 2. Varieties of Coffee Plants: There are several coffee plant varieties, with Arabica and Robusta being the most common. Arabica is known for its high-quality flavor, while Robusta is hardier and has a stronger taste. 3. Soil Requirements: Coffee plants prefer well-draining soil rich in organic matter. The soil should have a slightly acidic to neutral pH level. 4. Planting: Coffee is usually grown from seeds. Farmers plant coffee seeds in nurseries, and after a few months, the seedlings are transplanted to the main field. 5. Shade and Canopy Management: Coffee plants often benefit from shade, especially when young. However, mature plants may require some sunlight. Proper canopy management ensures adequate light and airflow. 6. Pruning: Pruning is essential for shaping the coffee plant, managing its size, and facilitating harvesting. It also helps in disease prevention and promotes better yield. 7. Harvesting: Coffee cherries are typically harvested once they are ripe. There are two primary methods: strip picking (harvesting all cherries at once) and selective picking (choosing only the ripe cherries during multiple harvests). 8. Processing: After harvesting, coffee cherries undergo processing to extract the beans. There are two main methods: dry processing (sun-drying the cherries) and wet processing (removing the pulp and fermenting the beans). 9. Drying: The processed beans are then dried to the desired moisture level. This can be done naturally under the sun or using mechanical dryers. 10. Milling and Hulling: After drying, the beans are milled to remove any remaining layers of parchment and are then hulled to obtain green coffee beans. 11. Grading and Sorting: Coffee beans are graded and sorted based on size, weight, and quality. Higher-quality beans often fetch better prices in the market. 12. Roasting: - The green coffee beans are roasted to develop their flavors. Roasting is a crucial step that significantly influences the taste of the final coffee. 13. Packaging and Distribution: The roasted coffee is packaged and distributed to consumers. Different roasts and grind sizes cater to various preferences. Understanding these stages provides insight into the intricate process of coffee cultivation, from planting to the delightful cup enjoyed by coffee enthusiasts worldwide. #100miz
