Great game! At around 10:00 of the video Brian says there isn’t anything Butcher can do to prevent mate. Why wouldn’t rook to h8 hold off white just long enough to Queen the pawn and chase the white King away from guarding the h4 and g4 squares?

After rook takes h8, then white promotion, it's checkmate anyway. If the promotion came with check it would be a different story though.

@@neoberi2611 rook can’t take on h8 because the white rook was on f7. The only way to attack the black rook on h8 would be to move the white rook and then put the white knight on f7 to attack h8. In the meantime, black queens and can attack white k.
