I'm under the impression that they didn't care. They probably didn't pay attention to Sam unless he was in trouble, which explains why he never got evaluated for his disorders. They raised a monster. In my opinion, they deserve some type of punishment, too. Whether it's jail time for child neglect/abuse or force them to give monetary compensation to Blaze's family, they played a hand in what happened.
@bombchelle78742 ай бұрын
@@MidnightSonnetSam knew he has Asperger's, so they clearly had him evaluated at some point. Why so quick to judge? You have no idea what his parents did, or didn't do. There is no way for any of us to know that. Blaming parents only goes so far. Sam was a whole ass grown human. He knew right from wrong. He alone is to blame. Even if Sam's parents were shit parents, plenty of people grow up in a shitty household, with shitty parents, and they don't do shitty things like Sam did. There have been plenty of people that grew up in a beautiful, loving home, with wonderful parents, yet turn out to be awful humans, that do atrocious things. Who do you blame then? I don't understand why people watch a 30 minute video, with just basic details, and feel they've garnered enough info to start passing judgement. That's impossible. You can't know enough of their lives to do that.
@ItsNeverAManequin2 ай бұрын
Why is that so hard to believe? Actual children are able to hide their online activities from their parents. He was an adult. Sam's parents could be decent people. The only evidence of his father's homophobia came from Sam himself.
@MidnightSonnet2 ай бұрын
@michelleholmes7582 I absolutely despise people who use the "but they were raised in a wonderful family dynamic" excuse when a kid goes rogue. While it's true that some kids are born psychopathic, there are always warning signs. Kids can't hide their emotions well, nor can they control their impulses. Kids who are born with such a disorder usually show signs at an early age, like killing small animals, hurting other kids on purpose, and finding joy in other people's pain. I've seen so many crime vids on "loving homes" with a killer in the midst. As a parent, you are 200% responsible for your children's health and well-being. Getting a child properly evaluated early on can prevent awful things from happening. That "grown ass man" was a child once. His parents allowed him to dive into cults, become a Nazi, and basically become an extremist. He admitted that his father is homophobic and has a short fuse. He feared his father's anger. He had to be closeted because his father would've snapped if he found out his son was gay. That's a pretty fucked up life to live as a minor. Yes, he's to blame for the killing. I'm not downplaying what he did. He deserves jail. He's a danger to society and himself. I have a feeling the, quote, "anger I'd never felt before" was probably his envy and self hatred rearing itself. He saw a happy gay guy who's loved by his parents, which made him feel bitter because he didn't have that. So, no, I'm not gonna sit here and pretend that his parents were wonderful, because they weren't. A good parent isn't a bigot. A good parent loves their kids no matter how they identify. A good parent is involved in their child's life. A good parent has an open and honest relationship with their kids. A good parent should be a safe haven for a troubled child, not someone to be feared. Sam clearly didn't have most, if not all, of that in his folks. I've seen this shit in real life. People I used to know had parents that seemed like saints in public. But behind closed doors, they were monsters to their children. My own mother was kinda similar. Kept up appearances in public, but abused me and my brother behind closed doors. So I know firsthand that reports in the media can be very one-sided on how "wonderful" a child's life really was before hell broke loose. You can believe what you want. That's your right. But I'm not gonna change my mind about Sam's parents. Info from Sam about his own father was enough for me.

Remember that this person does not represent what autism is, it is a spectrum and it is a well known fact that most people with autism have a strong sense of justice, the opposite of this guy. Mental disorders are often used as an excuse in the defense of people like this, but it really isn't. Autistic people might think differently from neurotypical people, but for most of us that's more of a good quality rather than a bad one. Growing up I hated being different as I got bullied into oblivion, but now that I'm grown up I'm grateful if anything to be autistic.

Same goes for autism, most autistic people are described to have a strong sense of justice, I myself experience this too. So when criminals like these try to use their mental condition as an excuse, my skin crawls. I could never bear to do anything unjust or unethical to another living being, human and animal. For criminals with autism and/or Asperger's to claim they are violent and cruel because of their condition is pathetic, most people with these conditions are wonderful people. But just like with neurotypical people, there's always those few bad apples whom are rotten to the core and ruin the reputation for all the others.

@CarpeNutella thank you for your comment. I've just unsubscribed to this channel, after several years, because I can no longer support a content creator with so little understanding of conditions such as Aspergers. At least the judge in the trial seemed to understand. While Blaze's murder was an appalling act and a terrible tragedy, Sam has a very difficult condition for him to come to terms with. And then, with no diagnosis in his youth, or a supportive network whilst growing up, horrors can sadly, happen

Tinder is not the issue nor any other platforms. It’s people. You can meet someone IRL and this happens. Be vigilant regardless to how you choose to meet and date. I feel like part of Woodward’s “reasoning” for the attack is jealousy towards Blaze. In Blaze, Woodward saw everything he wanted to be: successful, popular, attractive, open about his sexuality. And as someone who has dealt with self-hatred (I’m doing much better now), I can say with confidence that few things hurt more than seeing someone who has everything you want, but can’t have. The radicalization certainly didn’t help. But many of the people who become so deeply radicalized are fairly miserable, angry people who just want to feel accepted.

@myntndmarriage2 ай бұрын
Autism is all about masking to appear normal around others while behind the scenes they're struggling big time with trying to live 'normal' lives. Sam's matted hair and disheveled appearance indicate he is mentally unwell and overwhelmed, trying to cope in a terrifying and violent environment, and most likely suffering from depression on top of everything else. Autism is a type of mental retardation and probably a mental health facility is where he should be, receiving help, unlike prison which will only damage him more.

I worked with many young people like Sam , working hard to integrated them into peer groups where they learn from their peers that their thoughts and reasoning isn’t right , giving them a contrast to whatever being said at home or online and for many of these young people, friendship and acceptance from peers is vital , or they look for acceptance in all the wrong places. It’s easy to be popular and fun when you’re accepted , loved outgoing and confident but take that away and you end up withdrawn and navigating a very scary world alone .

A little side-note about why we Jews put rocks and/or stones instead of flowers around/on memorials or graves; it's because rocks and stones don't wilt and die like flowers; they stay forever. So that is why it's a tradition in our religion to put little stones or little rocks decorated or not, on a memorial or a tombstone. It's quite tragic that no one saw all of the red flags Sam was exhibiting. Heart goes out to Blaze's family.

I hate hatred. As a gay man I’ve realized over the years that a few can’t or won’t accept me. But those few can cause such horrible things in life. I’ve also realized in my years that I am not here to impress people. I don’t have to prove myself to anyone. Becoming comfortable in one’s skin is not an orientation thing, it’s a human thing. Both homosexuals and heterosexuals suffer from this. But once that is accomplished, it’s powerful. If ‘you’ are uncomfortable with gay relationships, then don’t get in one. But what two consenting adults do in their private time, as long as it’s legal, then no one should care. But then some people do and think they have the right to be judge and jury.

Sadly I think most of Sam’s anger, his actions and his association with the groups he affiliated with, stemmed from his father’s inability to accept homosexuality. My feeling is this is more from nurture rather than nature. Human beings should NOT be allowed to procreate if they can’t love their offspring unconditionally. My heart aches for Blaze and his family but it also hurts to listen to how Sam was left to raise himself in a world with no compassion or love or positive nurturing from his parents. Imagine if Sam had parents like Blaze did. He could have been a totally different person.
