I am the lucky owner of one since last week. Before I used an e61 machine, and I experience the Micra as a major step up. The 5 minutes warm up time is a really big deal: Espresso is meant to be a quick way to get great coffee, and the usual 20 minutes warm up of other machines does not work for me. Also, with this steam I am consistently able to make great milk for latte art, where before it was very much hit and miss. I find it very easy to use, and extremely well built.

I thoroughly enjoy your videos, Pedro. I’ve been using my new Lamborghini red Micra for about 10 days now, and I absolutely love it. Now I get what all the La Marzocco fuss is about. I did order a walnut handled standard bottomless portafilter, which I prefer to the new convertible unit. It also works better with my PUQpress Q2. As for the negatives you mentioned, I don’t see them as downsides at all. Using the machine is such a joy, the espresso is so good and so consistent, and the steam is insane. I’ve turned into a La Marzocco fan boy, as well.

The idea that it loses temperature stability after six coffees is not supported by any data. It may lose temperature stability in the WBC test for commercial machines after six coffees when they are being made in very rapid succession. That is a difficult test for commercial machines that says nothing much about how it will perform in the home (I suspect most home machines will fail that test). At the speed of a normal home barista it will probably be stable indefinitely.
@toensbrot Жыл бұрын
To be fair, he said six coffees one after the other, indicating the WBC protocol. However, I completely agree with your assessment. Testing by Swiss-based Kaffeemacher seems to indicate that the machine remains temperature stable more or less indefinitely when given one and a half minutes of rest between shots.
@corny155 Жыл бұрын
I’ve don’t testing with professional scace….when waiting 1min between shots. The micra will hold +-.5 degree F I’ve tested up to 12 shots in such a manner with no changes in temp. Very impressive for such a small machine

Which La Marzocco will you recommend amongst Micra, Mini or Gs3 for a smaller cafe ? My personal choice is GS3 because of pressure profiling and stability, but can it take a smaller café load or is it only home friendly machine ? Thanks a lot )
@CoffeePartsTV Жыл бұрын
The GS3 would fit a commercial environment, and they are commonly used on coffee carts and mobile events.. The only issue is still only one group head making it limited to how many coffee you can push out, so I assume it would not be a busy cafe. Hope this helps.

Seems like this machine is for a relatively narrow audience. If the paddle were a functional flow-control device so many more people would be interested. Another negative I see is the low clearance under the group - looks like you need an acaia lunar or smaller if you want to get a scale under there with a latte cup. Lot of great features, but no flow control at that price is tough to get over.
@CoffeePartsTV Жыл бұрын
With this machine, believe it really is focused as a style icon rather than the best 'value' machine. So many better 'value' machines available, with more features and greater control. For a coffee purist this is not the machine, yet do see this machine being very popular.

It looks stunning. I still don t understand why they bothered working on that plastic when they could have simply sold it with a bottomless portafilter which is really trendy and gives more clearance since most people will be using it with a scale. … I m a huge Mini fan. But I have to say that the Micra makes sense for a home, but does it feel like a “real” La Marzocco? And I find the brew paddle really small too .

Is the Micra plumbable?
@sundei Жыл бұрын
Hey there - The micra is plumbable! In fact the app will not allow you to enable the pre-infusion feature unless it is plumbed. You can, however, still use the "pre-brewing" feature which is similar but doesn't fully saturate the espresso puck the way that a pre-infusion would.

As a beginner, I've noticed with the micra you can't program it to stop the water once the coffee has been extracted, the water will keep pouring until you manually slide the paddle to stop it. How did you know when to stop it when you weren't using scales or a timer? Is there any tips?
@sundei Жыл бұрын
Hey there, I noticed that no one had replied to you here. It's been 2 months since your comment so I figure you've got the hang of things by now but I figured I could respond just in case someone else has the same question. Of course one way to know when to stop the shot is "practice" with relation to taste, but for me it was a timer and volume. I had a little espresso shot glass, but a standard 3oz alcohol shot glass works. I started with 17g ground coffee and aimed to extract approximately 2.5oz of espresso between 30-35 seconds (this was roughly the 35-gram extraction ratio I desired). If the shot was too fast or messy, I would grind finer (or the opposite if it took too long). When the shots were too fast or too slow, I would taste them anyway to get an idea of how to adjust the grind (keeping extraction time in mind) to meet my taste preference. From there I would adjust the grind based on taste since I had a good grasp on the timing. I hope this helps! Of course using one of the acaia scales is much more helpful for perfecting your shots, but timining/volume can work too :) Enjoy your new Micra!

I had decided on the Rocket R Nine One but now I see this Micra. May I ask how you guys liked the Rocket R Nine One? I did watch your video but now is a good time to ask you again.
@CoffeePartsTV Жыл бұрын
They are two very very different machines. Micra is awesome little machine, fast startup, great for apartment living. R Nine One, is a whole new level, almost not comparable. You would need to compare the R Nine One to a LM GS3 MP yet even then its somewhat different. For best results hard to beat the R Nine One, yet it does cost more than a Micra and also takes up more room... Guess depends on what you are looking for.
@bertraminc9412 Жыл бұрын
@@CoffeePartsTV Here in the USA, one of our biggest espresso machine dealers said they refuse to carry the Rocket R Nine One becuase it, "failed to do what it said it wold do"... they did not elaborate further. The Rocket R Nine One is still the top of my list and I continue to research what these issues may be. I prefer to be able to control the pressures myself and see a great little touch screen. The only limitations that I know of now include not being able to save the current profile from the save profile to one of the five saved profiles... so if you happen to get it perfect one morning you can not store that into one of the five memory slots but only in the save current slot. With touch screens and memory chips there is infinite ability to get it exactly right. Rocket will need to adjust the programming to account for this or I won't spend the 6500 USD on it. LaMarzocco, however, is prevalent here in the USA in coffee shops and never disappoints me when I stop to get an espresso from them. I think the Rocket R Nice One is a beautiful looking machine and the ideas are perfect, they just need to adjust the programming and memory slots.

In the market for something similar…I do feel like having to use the app to control temperature is a big miss, and personally really don’t like the portafilter design, which adds to the already premium cost to replace.
