"Mameia" has been made into a TV drama many years ago.The most heart-wrenching scene is the scene where Mameia used her long hair to wipe on her lover's shoes to say goodbye for the last time while still in love. Both he and she cried like they will die, Including viewers like me. "Prang" sings this song like she really is a Mameia.👏😢
The love of a young woman and a prince from foreing country who was excluded. Finally, the prince was heartbroken and died. and young woman go to become ordained nuns.

Mameia is a young Burmese female merchant in a historical story of Chiang Mai. It is a story about Mameia, a Burmese woman, and a prince of Chiang Mai. Thai people often call Burmese women Mameia. The prince's name is Chao Uttarakarn Koson (this is a title, but his real name is Sukkesom Na Chiang Mai). Their love began when he went to study in Burma. But their love ended in sadness. It became a love legend that has been told to this day. And a legendary Lanna folk singer named Charan Manophet took this legend and wrote it into this song. As for the legend of Mameia, it is still debated whether it is real. Because this prince really existed in history.

Charan Manophet is an important musician from the North. All of his songs convey the Lanna identity very well. This song is no exception. The melody and language show the identity of the northern Lanna very well.

This song was originally sung by Suntaree Wechanon. She used a tone in singing that was similar to the version.
