Nugget earned Goldy’s respect when he sat on the nest and took care of those eggs. He showed her that he is not a sissy just because he grew up in a house. He can take care of eggs and he is not going to pick up and leave because he is hungry or thirst.

The memories you have of granddaddy are what you are going to treasure for the rest of your life. It's what makes him live forever. Jason, I'm loving seeing you inhale those magnificent blackberries! They look delicious! Sounds like year three of the fruit orchard is going to be a bountiful harvest!! You are a master gardener. The Sting Stoppers look like astronauts suits. Very impressive. Can't wait to see the article in Emu magazine on Cog Hill. Of course they are excited and interested in you all. cog Hill is such a special place that we all love and are fascinated by. 💕

I made a chocolate cake alternative once - a fig chocolate cake. No chocolate involved. The chocolate flavor came from the figs. It was very sweet and did taste somewhat like chocolate. I used store bought figs. A fig chocolate cake made with fresh figs would probably be heaven on a plate!

Brooke & Jason, my husband is a plumber and his customer gave him some of his Blue Cheese and cured it in caves up here. It was his business I think his son has taken over now but he said, Watch the cheese bloom when you open the package. We cut it open and when it was exposed to the air, it started turning blue with veins crawling all over the cheese. Never saw anything like it. I DO NOT eat it but hubby does. You might find vids on KZbin with that experience.

My folks are both gone now Mom passing in 2011 and Daddy in 2012. They were farmers too and loved people like your Granddaddy and I so hope they will get to meet him in Heaven. My Grandpa was a farmer in Illinois. Then the family moved to Long Beach, California because my mom was ill and the Dr said she’d be fine living in California. Sooo, my Grandpa grew what he could in a residential setting. One thing was blackberries. I was about 3 or 4 years all when we were visiting my Grandparents. The story goes that my Grandma was going to make a blackberry cobbler. But when she went out to pick the blackberries, there were none! Turns out I went out and ate every blackberry on the vines before her.
