Cognitive rehabilitation for patients with multiple sclerosis

A change in cognitive function or cognitive dysfunction is common in MS - 40-65% of multiple sclerosis (MS) patients will develop problems with cognition. Yael Goverover, OTR/L, PhD, New York University, New York, NY, discusses cognitive rehabilitation for people with MS. Cognitive training and cognitive rehabilitation are specific forms of non-pharmacological intervention to address cognitive and non-cognitive outcomes. There is a growing body of evidence supporting cognitive rehabilitation in MS patients. However, the generalization of those interventions in everyday activities is not common, and further studies on the lasting effects of cognitive rehabilitation need to be carried out. This interview took place at the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS) Congress 2022 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
