My father years ago in manchester met tis lady by chance in a pub and he was ready to travel back home to ireland but wen my father sang tis song she tried her best to persuade him to stay..she followed him to the boat tryin to convince him to stay..i wudnt be here tellin tis story if he stayed but i love it..my dad is at deaths door as i write tis story and the moral of it all is ti singer and song..❤

It was written and composed to the tune THE SINGER AND THE SONG, by Peter W.A. Davison. The tune was arranged by George Black. It is #861 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship. Just thought I'd share.
