Playing Path of Exile without paid stash tabs is like playing EVE online trial where you can only fly up to X ship or learn up to X skill. It's really just a trial version if you pay nothing. It's not pay to win because you need to pay whether you're going to be winning or losing.

So, when PoE launched there was 0 need for stash tabs. That has changed obviously, but youre 100% right about needing them now. Also, there cosmetic prices are ridiculously high, and for that price, they should be able to scale to the body type of your character.

I feel like if ANY other game tried what PoE tries they would run through the ground, but PoE is one of gaming "darlings" and thus can do wrong.

Tiktok likely poses more of a threat to security and privacy than this game could. Its all speculative though. ToS are typically written to maximize the legal wiggle room a company has should a dispute happen. Theyre typically (but not always; read your legally binding contracts) to save face if shit hits the fan. Anything malicious would be buried deeper than surface and almost immediately picked up by things like packet sniffers.

@@asmosisyup2557 you arent wrong. I just singled out tiktok for the china parallels, but reasonable minds could be wary of any personal data crossing the internet. Even legitimate sites can be breached.

That is what most people call PoE, free to try. If you want to play medium to long term or anything end game, you ABSOLUTELY need the stash tabs.

yeah pay 2 win is what it would be if it was competitive PvP, which it only is in the very loosest of terms. That said, a few of the stash tabs are mandatory if you intend to play seriously (past the story into endgame) and if you dont buy more of the specalised tabs, you will need to at least buy a handful of generic ones. Free to try, pay to play. Almost every new league introduces a new set of currency/item types that come with a new tab. At least it did while i was playing.

You can't sell items in base stash tabs in PoE to other players.

I'll be surprised if they dont add p2w mechanics at some point. Also whether the privacy issues are a legit concern or not, i just dont find the game all that interesting to even bother trying.

i strongly doubt there will be a nasty surprise. What i would expect (if anything along those lines) is a series of mild disappointments that culminate in no longer wanting to play. Like FO76's cash shop slowly spiraling down the toilet.

I mean you could say Vampire Survivors is shallow and its wildly successful. You dont need complexity and exceedingly ridiculous "depth" to be successful.
