These Great Lakes spawners seem to chase flies but here in Washington they won’t even look at your gear when that dark.

True. I live in WA and steelhead go for certain flies. On the skookumchuck, they hit nightmare color (white head and orange and black body).

Hi why don't you just do a loop at the back with braid, or even mono and then slip the loop through the hook you want and over the shank. Done, you can swap hooks anytime you want. Once you break off your hook, your fly is done. The other way it isn't. Just put both tags on the body, wrap, put tags back towards hook, wrap and if you really want glue the wrap.

i used to make mines like that too, but just opt for a size 4 straight streamer hook. it does the job just fine and it cuts the time in half. do you even fish in michigan during the winter time? i have been its been a struggle lol

That first creek looks like a spawning bed. That could explain why your video got a few thumbs down... its generally bad form to fish for spawning salmon. Give em a break, let em breed. Fish lower down in the system, if that's an option. I have to say though... nice fish, looks like fun!
