This is really good but even better at 2x speed. Love the ‘walking out in to white crunchy snow with dog’ bit too. 🐕 ❄️

I’ve been building pottery by hand for about a month. I started during a residential treatment for my PTSD. What a wonderful way to work with our hands and build something beautiful. Thank you. My chosen methods at this time are SW American Indian pottery like the Hopi. So I too am using underglaze and now am learning how to make organic and mineral paints. Nest I plan to build fires on the ground to fire wild clay. There is probably 20-30 years of learning ahead and I am planning to teach my grandchildren. I look forward to more of your videos. You are a skilled artisan. Thank you for sharing.

@@A.L.75 yep, I belong to Andy’s Ancient Pottery group. We meet via Zoom every Wednesday and he builds something on the list. I asked if he would build a seed pot next year and he put it in his list. Great guy!!!

You might want to look into the techniques of the Jomon potters (Japan, 14,000 to 300 BC), as well as the native people of the American Southwest. Andy Ward has a good channel about that. Then, of course, the Igbo people, etc. Cheers from Japan.

Did you end up glazing the inside of the pot? Or is that unusual?
@blackdogceramics2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking, it's not shown but the inside is fully glazed. My camera battery died during the glazing shot, and there was no way to reglaze at the time. I'm definitely learning a lot!

Well done, so much labor but the end product is beautiful. Two questions, one how long did you wait until the bisque fire; secondly, you used something besides the water and oxide, looks like a soapy liquid, I wonder what was it? Thank you. Keep up the great work.

Hi there, is there ever an issue with letting the bottom firm up and then adding softer new coils? For instance, do you need to keep the bottom loosely wrapped so that the drying time evens out, or is coil building pretty forgiving in that sense?
@mercinuela2 жыл бұрын
Beautiful piece. How do you ensure the inner walls are properly blended when coiling up smaller and smaller towards the neck?
@blackdogceramics2 жыл бұрын
At that stage I blend with every fresh coil (instead of building up several coils and blending them all at the same time). If the opening is big enough for a few fingers or a long tool then blending is still possible, I hope that helps!
