Thank you your coil tapping versus coil splitting video is by far the best on KZbin. I think that the coil tapping sounds a lot brighter especially on your guitar it really brings out the high notes and clarity. GREAT IDEA! though do a half hummbucker produces a sound as good as that of a single coil is the question here coz i can't hear that thwang .. ..? Moreover, if it can, then this would be best damn thing with all passive combinations in place in just one guitar.

Manas Bhatt that’s why I made the video, the effect is subtle, the “twAng” you talk about is caused by more than the pickup alone, but now you’ve heard and you can decide if it’s worth it.

Thanks for the info. The mod definitely made the humbucker versatile, as you can switch from humbucker to single coil. In my speakers, i can hear a low level hum when you switch it to single coil, (normal for a single coil). A small price to pay, just put some noise gate. Cheers!

my favorite mod for the h-s-h is to give up the tone knob, and use it for a variable coil split for the 2 humbuckers. using the middle wire that connects the humbuckers 2 coils coils together, solder 1 to 1 outside log on the "former" tone control, put a ground in the middle, and the center of the other humbucker to the other lug. this way, the "former" tone control acts as a volume for 1 coil of each humbucker, depending on what you have selected with the 5 way switch. much more tone variation can be had this way.

Interesting. Normally in the 2nd and 4th positions the humbucker coils are split in combination with the middle pickup. Which means the middle pickup runs in parallel with the either the bridge or the neck coil split. Did you remove these splits to have the humbucker on full in positions 2 and 4, in order to split them with the push push pot?
@juliancarreno101
@juliancarreno101 3 жыл бұрын
No, the split kills one coil (inner coil in my setup) the positions remain the same but without humbuckers, lately I sacrificed my tone knob to add a 4 way switch to be able to include more configurations like full both Humbuckers simultaneously.
@MrMetalclay
@MrMetalclay 4 жыл бұрын
It sounds great! I've been going through different schematics to find the one that you have used. So you didn't take the pickups apart or change their orientation? If you didn't, my next question is; is it the outside coil of the humbucker running when the split is engaged as in the diagram of pickup selection? I'm trying to figure this out with the three wires and I've only been able to run the inside coils independently. I've been testing by touching the poles with a screwdriver periodically to see which pickups are engaged.

@juliancarreno101
@juliancarreno101 6 жыл бұрын
Richard Bartlett yes, by accident I only could get a push-push, later i found the push-pull, but I was hooked, if you think about it, you just need one quick slap to change a push-push, as with the push-pull, you need to actually grab it and pull, when you measure the time, you spend almost as double the time as in with the push-push, but hey, get them and try them both and judge for yourself! Cheers!

Hey bro with the pickup of the bridge you can play metal? Put backward the pickup dont affect the tone?
@juliancarreno101
@juliancarreno101 3 жыл бұрын
The stock Ibanez INF pickups are very versatile; they are very hot and not too muddy, so yes, you can play metal, I did have the pickup turned around, but it makes little difference on the sound, the orientation of the pickup is defined by the orientation of the magnet inside, switching the magnet has a more radical effect. Me switching the pickup was precisely an experiment on noticing differences, but I found out it makes little difference in the final sound.
