You're the best! Thank YOU, Nancy! I just got back from lunch to see these nice comments and the Super Thanks you gave me, hugs!! I appreciate you! I'm happy to do this, it's a fun wrap, but coils are a bit to learn for the sizing, so I came up with a way that I think will be easy to explain to you all. Next video coming up soon... bare with me, they're in parts because it's easier for me to upload them this way without my technology blowing up. ;D

Coils are so adaptable. I wish I liked the look of them in my pieces. I don't know what it is that my eyes can't get on board with. So many people use them so well in their designs. Thank you for the tute!! One day maybe for me. Stow it in my back pocket. 😊

I was like this for a long time too and don't use them much in my work but sometimes, they do add a great bit of texture. They are a popular technique for many and many use it quite often too, I get it. ;)

Thank you so much, I’ve not made these coils for a while. I’d forgotten about the double coil, and how pretty they are. X❤❤ I’d love to become a member, I can’t afford to at the moment .

Great tutorial! I like to put an L shaped bend at one end of my base wire. This helps to keep your coil from accidently sliding off and it creates a little handle. Just something I've come up with 😊

@Perfectly Twisted Jewelry It worked! I got out my drill that I bought just for this purpose and mastered coiling on it. I've always made them by hand. 🙂

You beat me to it! Awesome, Ann! I love to coil, but it takes a mood and now that your drill is out... I'll get mine! ;D Hugs!

Thanks for the technique and tips for getting it right. I tend to hold a death grip on the core wire which bends it all out of shape. It definitely takes practice and patience to do this with finesse.

I want to thank you for your creativity and insight!!! Although this is an informative video, how do you measure the coiling wire to achieve the required finished coil? I really love your tuts and when I have the funds, your channel will be my choice!! Thanks again!!
@PerfectlyTwistedJewelry8 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! It's a bit of math to figure the length, most people who do double and triple coils will 'coil as they go' on the frame itself... building the coil ahead is harder for measure but it allows you to make it like a bead, so you can insert the coil onto wires like this small component. I know it's not a complete answer but there are many variables to the measure... what size base wire you're coiling over, what size your coil wire is, as well as what size your double coil core is... My advise is to practice the coils off pendant and jot down what you use, and what length double or triple coil you get from it, then do it on your pendant frame for the same distance. I hope that helps!

Hi Deborah! Thanks for watching and for the good questions! Here is a short finishing video I made so you can see how I treat the wires... yes, I do patina, polish and seal the copper, the products and process I use are all in the short video. Very pretty piece, thank you. Do you save all of your scrap copper pieces ? I am asking because I saw somewhere where they put them in little piles and hit them with a torch on a fire brick and meld them into exotic pieces.
@PerfectlyTwistedJewelry10 ай бұрын
I do! I have a huge bucket under the table full of copper scraps and I do melt them but you remind me that I haven't done that in a while! I might go play with my torch today now :D Thanks, Deby!

How much wire would I need to pull to end up with a 6 inch double coil having trouble knowing how much I need and I was coming up short?
@PerfectlyTwistedJewelry5 ай бұрын
That length can vary depending on the diameters of wire you are using ... I can only help as an example, then you can probably adjust or figure it for your gauges, most of the time, its a matter of doing it a few times and writing down what you used and what your got for a finished double coil length. Having said that... here is an approximation that you can start with. you can use 12 inches of 22 gauge wire (for the first core)... use 5 feet of 28 gauge wire (for the first coil)... coil 6 inches of 28 gauge wire onto the 22 gauge core. If you wrap that length around an 18 gauge second core, you should get a 1.25 inch double coil.... so if you want 6 finished inches of double coil, given these same wire gauges, then you are looking at making a lot of original coil length. About 30 feet of 28g, wrapped around 7 feet of 22 gauge... that's a LOT to manage in one coil... You might consider doing 6, one inch, double coils...or 3 2 inch lengths? Anyway, I hope that helps, again this is a rough estimate on these specific gauges. I hope that helps! I will be traveling the next few days, so it might be a couple of days before I can check comments here again, I do hope this helps you. Practice at making the 1 inch coil... write it all down and then you can figure what you'll need for 6 total inches. Again, I don't know what gauges you're using so this is a best estimate, guess. ;) Thanks again!

Most of us buy wire at RioGrande.com ... they are a jewelry supply site. I hope that helps!
