I really love my Kennedy collection. I’ve put a lot of effort into putting together a really nice set

Thanks Daniel for sharing this information. Very informative ! Getting those high grades is tough. It is indeed FUN to find doubled dies. They might not be a cash cow but FUN ! Same for the accented hair.

Another great video Daniel, I bought 4 coins from a friend I paid $22 and was a 1964 p Kennedy half dollar from the Littleton coin company and I just looked at it. The coin and notice that it has the accented hair. I look at it and it seems to have the markers on. So thank you for this video.

PCGS charges around $14 for slabbed bulk subs and $3 per coin if the minimum grade is not met. My experience.

Had a close call with my recent submission of a 1954 Hidalgo 5 peso coin. It’s a low mintage of 30,000 while the other years had many more minted. I bought it about 8 years ago for $125 at a coin show. I took it to a local coin show to get graded. The dealer who submitted it on my behalf was concerned about a spot on the cheek of the effigy being pvc. He had a peer take a look. He said he can remove it and conserve the coin. I had good results with this same dealer before. Low and behold ngc graded it ms64. $650 coin all day long. It is possible to remediate the pvc. I showcase it on my latest video if interested.

Have been collecting these for years. Kennedy's are a large coin, they have enough mass to inflict heavy bag marks on each other. Also the quality of strike varies year to year and mint to mint. In my opinion almost as difficult to grade as Washington quarters. Gems exist but are few and far between. Good hunting.

I have 1964 Kennedy half D mint, and 1964 no mint, and many 1776-1976, and others kennedy’s

That was wild when you said the 1972 D kennedy half was rare because yesterday my mother shocked me with 3 coins in a napkin an one was a 1941 mercury dime an the other was a 1887 crown shilling coin an a 1972 D kennedy. So when you said that i looked in my wallet where I put it at its just funny to me. Can you explain why its rare thanks Daniel! Sorry i wrote this before i watched the whole vid so its the no FG thanks for all the vids!

I never said it was rare, it must be missing the FG, please watch the video closely and use a price guide.

Hi sir... I have the question
@travdripdrip3822 күн бұрын
May seem like a newbie question (cuz it is), when buying a graded coin is one company better than the other if you have the choice between the same grade but different companies? I.e. pcgs, ngc? Thank you for any info
@CoinHELPu2 күн бұрын
Not in reality by the grade but PCGS coins can often sell for more, so if value is your goal then you buy the coin in the holder that is worth the most.
@travdripdrip3822 күн бұрын
@CoinHELPu good to know, thank you. God bless

In my opinion, I would not buy a graded coin that is not PCGS, NGC, or CAC, but to me PCGS vs. NGC is like Coke vs. Pepsi. I've generally encountered dealers who turn their noses up at NGC, but that's almost always when I'm trying to sell an NGC graded coin. "Oh, well, I'd give you more if it were PCGS." Funny how that never translates to a discount off retail when you're trying to buy an NGC coin from the same dealer! If we're talking about older coins (Morgans, Peace, Walkers, etc.) I'll try to find CAC coins, whether PCGS or NGC, since the green sticker should refute any accusations that NGC overgraded the coin. I also collect modern proof PF69 and PF70 Franklin and Kennedy halves and my collection is generally NGC just because I want to keep it uniform, and also because I like how creative NGC is with their holder designs. With Silver Eagles, I almost always buy NGC graded coins because I read somewhere that early PCGS holders may have contributed to milk spotting. That may be a myth, however. Bottom line, if you think the coin was graded accurately, and you can articulate to yourself why, and you like the look of the coin, then the coin will be a valuable addition to your collection no matter whether it's PCGS or NGC. If you look at the coin, and your first thought is, "How on earth did this ugly, scratched up coin get MS[grade number]??" then it may have been overgraded, and you may end up getting less when you sell it than you would for a similar coin, despite the grade on the holder.

@@JCC1976-p4u good points. I don't intend to sell anything, at least not in the foreseeable future but I can see a dealer using that to their advantage when buying vs selling. Thank you for the info, I'm always trying to soak up as much knowledge as I can. Thanks again, have a great evening. God bless

Question for you- I found 2 72-D no FG BUT has some funky residue (not PVC) on them. Should I attempt to dip it or just send to NGC/PCGS as is?
@CoinHELPu2 күн бұрын
I cannot answer your question without seeing the coin in hand.
@robertcook52012 күн бұрын
@@davidpowers1669 if you can obtain a whistling steam kettle, place the coin in a cotton gauze pouch and hold it carefully in the steam (use distilled water). Dip in cold water and agitate. Repeat. This frequently removes PVC residue with no harm to the coin. Old timers trick.

@robertcook52012 күн бұрын
@davidpowers1669 the steam won't hurt the coin so you can do it over and over. Dip the still hot coin in cool water. Dips like ms70 can do questionable things to the color. Might get the dreaded " Questionable Color"

So is there a way that get crud off the coins without anyone knowing the coins were cleaned or dipped? If the coins are high grade but dipped or cleaned without any noticeable damage are the coins still considered high grade?

Why is PCGS so much more respect than NGC?
@staleydu12 күн бұрын
My opinion, throughout its history, NGC has had periods for very inconsistent grading. It’s led to a belief among dealers that PCGS is preferred. So, they realize more, sometimes much more, at sale
@TheWinstonDouble2 күн бұрын
Advertising. People like the slabs, the registry sets. It is of the opinion of many collectors that they're just better. (Not that that's my position) They charge a lot for their service, so their customers ask more for their coins, people eventually pay it... that becomes normalized, and now PCGS coins are worth more. It's literally just that. There's nothing guaranteed about the PCGS MS-64 always being a better coin than an ANACS or NGC 64.
@CoinHELPu2 күн бұрын
PCGS is much more picky or conservative on modern coins and they have the most desirable Registry Set service.
