Madina is also the resting place of Prophet Muhammad [PBUH]. Madina is where Prophet and companions migrated (Hijrat) to escape persecution and start of Islamic calendar (Hijri).

As a side note, (controversial): this is more cultural than islamic. Traditionally and strictly speaking a Muslim is not allowed to pray/ask/seek from anyone but Allah, not even Prophets or Angels. Prophet himself forbade muslims from praising him in such a way that Christians did with Christ [PBUH].

I feel that reactors not from the native language being sung don't justify the actual feelings that arise from listening to the artists tone, expressions, mood and the emotions they generate within the listener, especially from ghazals, naats, qawalis etc, but you really did get it , its not the rythem but the deep spiritual meanings in the lyrics, very well explained Rosalie 🙂, ofcoarse lots of credit to one of the Top Pakistani singers, Atif as well.

Rosalie, you are such a gift to the reaction community simply for the out of the world insights and emotions that you exude from every being of yours when you react to songs. I would highly request you to allocate time of the week for Pakistani music esp the Sufi music via Coke Studio and Nescafé Basement sessions so that we can get to hear your beautiful feedback more often on music that resonates with us a lot (esp to me being an expat Pakistani). It’s a humble request because I can keep listening to you and not get bored for a second. I am so amazed of your grasp on music - esp eastern music that’s so vastly different from western music and in particular, the Sufi music from the region that celebrates the existence of God in every aspect of life. I am not overly religious but certain music numbers just jolt me from deep within and this “Naat” is one of those kinds. There’s another one in Coke Studio called “Wohi Khuda Hai” that also recited by Atif Aslam and it resonates with you from deep within too. I am going to send you a whole list of my favorites and I hope you get time to check them out as time permits. This naat is basically sung in praise of the last messenger of God, Muhammad (PBUH). The essence of the naat is that this world can be where it is but for us Muslims, all we need is one gaze of Madina (the last resting place of Prophet Muhammad PBUH) for us to be liberated from all the woes and worries of the world.
