In the US Coca-Cola would do blind taste test with people on the street, and when people were blindfolded they almost always preferred Pepsi, but when they would taste it again with the blindfold off, they would prefer the Coca-Cola. Interesting insight into human bias.

I'm pretty sure the Pepsi Challenge, as they called it, worked because Pepsi is sweeter. Give people a tiny sip of each & they'll pick the sweeter one. But after a whole glass most people prefer the more complex flavours in Coke.

If this was a boxing match, Pepsi would come out swinging and expend its energy trying to gain an early advantage and/or finish the fight early, but Coke would have its gloves raised in the end. Pepsi, to me, just has this weird burnt sugar taste I'm not that fond of. Tastes like it's trying to compensate for its inferior flavor profile by beefing up with more sugar.

The reason us Pepsi fans dislike Coca Cola is because we have usually only ever had the corn-syrup version and haven’t had the cane sugar coke. I can say corn-syrup coke is utter mud-water compared to cane-sugar coke. I might actually prefer cane-sugar coke over Pepsi.

An old girlfriend's dad convinced me that fresh pepsi from a can was superior. Since then I feel the flavors and carbonation has changed. I used to get into arguments defending our stance on pepsi against the coke drinkers. Now I'm not as biased, but I still prefer both over root beer or dr.pepper. but the fact remains that pepsi had some of the best marketing of all. They had Michael Jackson, the little pepsi girl, Brittney Spears and was first to enter the USSR. It comes down to so many factors, and I'm just tired of the soft drink wars... these days I drink whatever. Except sprite
