My mom always drew inspiration from real people, things and stories. This reminded me of one of those bed time stories that she used to whisper while I'd try to fall asleep. This one story was about a small town girl who aspired to be so many things but she couldn't due to lack of resource and limited exposure. She goes on to find a lot of peace and happiness when his prince charming comes along one day almost to sound like he rescued her. They moved on in life together to settle at this almost utopian riverside town. The news of her expected first-a baby girl-lifted her spirits so much as she could finally see her daughter living the dream and be whoever she wants that she couldn't be. She used to end the story here telling me that it is time for me to sleep. Years later, I went on to discover that the girl in the story was my mom and the baby girl she spoke of couldn't survive the birth. She lost who was supposed to become my elder sister. This song made me realize how some losses can never be forgotten, I know that she misses her even today and I must comfort her.

This song always makes me cry, I don't have a sister but this song and few other things made me realize that it's a very big thing for a girl to marry and leave the house where she was born, where she has all the memories and specially people with whom she used to live, laugh, cry, everything!
