How was it colorism ? The group was one of the most succesful of the 90s. And when Lauryn went solo she crushed it for example with her darkskin AND her locs. Coko had no réal direction for her solo career. Nicole Scherzinger couldn't make it solo either and she had huge success with PCD and HUGE ego just as big as Coko which also played a part imo

The light skin/dark skin war continues. Lol Smh Keke Wyatt, Tamia, Chante Moore, and Faith Evans are all exceptional vocalists (like Coko) who are light skinned and their success has been nowhere near Mariah Carey's either. More often than not, it's about the "team" an artist has behind them that determines their success. These record labels generally see one color and that's green. Colorism is definitely real though!
