Col Russ Olson Jr - Hometown Hero presented by The Law Office of Amanda M. Reed

July 31, 2022 : Colonel Russ Olson Jr has been a lifelong bulldog as a member of the Citadels class of 1969
He served a combat tour in Vietnam from 1972-73
His Army career took him, wife Linda and their kids all around the world. Including postings in Germany, Australia, Bangladesh and India with too many posts to list here in the US across 8 states. After 30 years in the Army, you would think he could rest easy, but the Colonel went on to his next calling in life as a high school history teacher here in Cabarrus County at JM Robinson. He remains connected to many former students on Facebook and beyond. After 12 years in the classroom, Col. Olson remains a legend on his farm nurturing his bees, goats, chickens, snakes, and leading multiple mission trips to Pennsylvania and El Salvador. He relishes his time with his 5 grandkids and 2 great grandkids. As his former students would know…he is “Spartacus”!
