Michael Brown that’s good to hear. Bear in mind the Brunner software offers lots of control, and care needs to be taken to approximate RW feel. So take your time dialing it in. Better yet, send him up with a dynamometer to measure some real forces to build accurate profiles.

3 times the resolution, 4 times the price. Honeycomb is a game changer on so many levels. For the last decade settle for a crappy yoke, like Saitek/Logitech or CH, which are nearly or over two decades old. Now you can finally get a high quality yoke, that's similar to yokes like Yoko, for the same price as those two outdated shitty yokes. Let's also remember that Honeycomb is releasing a throttle quadrant next year, with a landing gear lever and fully working reverse axis, flaps and speedbrake, as well as an autopilot panel, for the same price. That's pretty much a fully working cockpit for ~$500.

YES FOR ME, I'm on a tight budget. To get a proper yoke, it doesn't have to be perfect. Why? because after all, its a SIMULATOR. It will get the job done. That is the main thing. and of course the Honeycomb is better than the logitech, and more expensive. but a lot less expensive than yoko. so I'm going with the Honeycomb because money is tight and it will do the job well. a 747 Pilot named Kelsey, on channel 74 GEAR, that is what he uses. the Honeycomb and said its very realistic. So that's all I needed to hear.

As a real world GA pilot and avid flight simmer, my YOKO is the most realistic feeling piece of hardware I've used so far! Yes I wish it was less than a grand like everyone else, but I'm glad to have one in my sim pit. Beats everything else I've used until now. There is absolutely no sticking/binding of any kind, which allows for some very smooth and precise flying, especially during the round out and flare.

Nice one. I'll stick to VR controller (ergonomic mode). It might not be as realistic as it gets but it works well in VR and I have to adupt to any stick/yoke the plane provide (which is nice). If I had been pressed to choose, I probably invest in the Honeycomb though.

I put this comment on a similar video, but I think it is worth repeating. None of these yokes ever properly simulate actual trim settings. In order to do that a motor must move the center of the spring rather than unnaturally moving the yoke to center while simultaneously trimming. Simmers get used to that but it would be nice to do it for real. I modified a yoke years ago by adding a screw that moved the yoke center spring for real trim. Remember, on a real plane elevator trim reduces the force on the yoke but you do not move the yoke to do that. Even better would be a yoke that changed the spring force with airspeed. Oh well.

Personal preference, setup choice, and investment are what's important to me. Yoko is one of the top, but i would choose the Honeycomb personally because it gives you a lot for the buck. ...and I'm not a pilot..just a sim enthusiast who enjoys flying for fun and learning. There is one area, I found not too much people discussed about it, is the yoke sensibility controls! x-plane shipped with both 50% if I remember it correctly. Are these settings playing a big role? Or should be change these settings depending on different hardware? Or different plane characteristics? The Honeycomb delivers 95% similarity to yoko with 1 key factor that we all desire and thats realism. For 250$ vs 1000$, I'd pick the 250 hands down for many reasons than more reasons to pick the yoko. #1 I can mod the Honeycomb yoke by adding rubber bands to adding similar pressure and realism while dipping nose. #2 Honeycomb offers 90 degree turning for what I value most in yoke. #3 Being smart in life is saving money. So for 1/4 of the price as the yoko, I'd be foolish not to pick the Honeycomb. #4 Honeycomb offers panel switches which also saves more money buying extra hardware. #5 Cmon, we all can learn how to fly and learn all we need to know from the Honeycomb while saving a ton of cash. I have an important question that might be increasing the use of air manager. I have been asking people with xplane10 but can apply to any simulator. In order to see 180, we use three monitors for panoramic views or 3D cockpit also but if the 3D cockpit can be remove(instruments only), then we can use head tracking with if we keep the 3D capabilities. I was told that is not possible but I found one plane that is not finish in xplane10 under experimental planes with name VAN'S AIRCRAFT. When I started, I only see the panoramic view (no instruments or cockpit) but my head tracking was working and I can control head movements in order to have realistic view of the outside. This is fantastic to combine with air manager because you can have only one monitor for the view using head tracking and the second one for air manager instruments. Using four monitors requires a lot of PC. Any idea how we can remove the cockpit with our loosing the 3d capability. Thank you.

As others already said, VR in combination with a good yoke and pair of pedals (and a TQ if applicable) really transforms your simming experience to a whole new level! Speaking of VR and a request for Austin, could you PLEASE look into the issue where any kind of precipitation moves with your head. Looks really weird and almost makes you feel sick. Sorting that one would make VR so much more enjoyable in X-Plane! And while I'm at it and sticking to the overall experience in the X-Plane, will we ever be able to disable AA for cloud textures? I've mentioned it before but will repeat myself since that is one of of those things I believe would make a world of difference in increased performance for every single X-Plane user out there regardless what aircraft you're in or what computer specs you have. Wouldn't that be awesome!

I guess I need a state the obvious. Based on Austin's descriptions of what he feels with both yokes reviewed, on Mike's channel, I have to conclude, hands down the Honeycomb is a far better dollar for dollar buy. Based on his description, and what is offered with the Yoko yoke, the price point for the Yoko should be no more than $399 to $499. Some of you will disagree with me and that is OK, but I can only make my determination based on the two yokes reviewed. I totally disagree with comments saying you're comparing apples to oranges. From a functional standpoint in what they do, they do the same thing. They pitch your airplane up and down, roll your plane left to right. Simple as that. What these two videos have shown is that the current Logitech offerings should be no more than $49.99 based on how inferior their product is now today. Disclaimer: I do own and have been using since 2015 Saitek products, so yes they have served me but not as well as they should. But that's just my opinion. Mike and Austin keep up the great work looking forward to the next videos. This is a nice collaboration, that serves the community well. This is one of the reasons why I chose X-Plane over other flight simulation products that shall not be named. X-Plane community is awesome and the developer and community relationship is awesome. Dion Markgraf saying they ”do the same thing” is basically true... but so do a Tesla and a Prius. I think it comes down to what you can afford and what you want. Similarly...do you buy a RTX2060 GPU or the RTX2080ti? Do you dine a Longhorn or Ruth’s Chris? There is no doubt that there is a point of diminishing returns but still the best value is not always the best personal choice. Having tried both yokes myself and as a former military and airline pilot I think they ar both great but think your suggested target price for the Yoko is low. It is all metal and the unit is far sturdier than the Alpha. It has ball bearings on the shaft so it is very smooth. The yoke itself is cast aluminum not plastic. The switch wiring is internal. I would say it is commercial quality vs. consumer for the Alpha. Compared to the Brunner $2000 yoke the Yoko seems like a better value too. I do agree that Honeycomb has a hit in their hands that offers the clear best choice for a sub $500 yoke which has been sadly missing up until now. Personally I preferred the cheap plastic CH yoke to the Saitek Yoke die to the annoying strong pitch centering spring that made realistic trimming almost impossible for me. Take. Care!

Denise Ubaldini I would say the TQ3 or TQ6 if you have the money. If you want to be more frugal the Saitek/Logitech throttles are more than adequate.

If you are on a budget, I would suggest the Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant due out early next year. As for rudder pedal I use the Saitek Rudder pedals and have no issues with them.

However it gives a good perspective as to what you get with what I'd consider the next big step up from the Honeycomb. Very valuable as it's very hard to figure out what prices are justifiable with this sort of thing because beyond events like Flight Sim Expo there's really no opportunity to go and try out all of these products, and I think that's why many people end up with the Saitek yoke. And I mean if the saitek yoke is your budget and you don't get the chance to go out and feel the honeycomb are you really gonna know if its worthwhile to maybe save up that extra little bit just by reading a product description? Like how many people are REALLY going to know the minute differences that Austin talks about in this video like the increased resistance in the aileron movement. while they are two vastly different products I think reviews like this definitely serve a purpose in such a niche marketplace like Flight Simulation.

The main issue with comparisons is longevity. The Honeycomb probably has bearings that are metal on plastic. These will eventually start to stick. Also the Honeycomb uses a potentiometer which will generate noise eventually. The expensive ones use hall sensors. That sensitivity and lack of deadzones will last that way.... forever !

Why not compare the RESOLUTION of the Gladiator II to the Brunner when you get it ? As a light plane pilot with decades of experience, being able to make tiny precise corrections using my fingertips (like a real airplane) is essential for usefulness. Just like Austin says. The Gladiator II I bought from you has acceptable resolution. The Logitech does not. (It's the only other flight control I have tried)

@@darkshadow7709 Yes, I know some like it and some don't. I just fall into the don't category. I would make a video about why I hate it, but then I don't need the grief from the people who own one and like it trying to tell me how I am wrong and that I should actually like it. It is like people telling me I should like the color green because they like green and therefore I should like green. We are both right. You like it and that is right for you. I hate it and that is right for me.

HoneyComb is a plastic toy in comparison, mine is four months old and has already become loose in the shaft, the cable between the control unit and the box I had to replace after a week, I would think it will last a maximum of two years for frequent use, best yoke for the money today is the new Fulcrum, if you can get one.

Not aging well. I've had mine since the pre order, as well as the bravo throttle quadrant and haven't had a single hiccup with either. Perhaps the operator is the problem, or you don't have one at all

Compare the $250 Honeycomb to the $1,000+ Yoko, that is the worst comparison I've seen for a while. Obviously, the Yoko could do better and if Honeycomb made an expensive yoke like that it probably could have a very substantial comparison, yet they don't have a top tier yet. I don't appreciate the comparison between $250 and $1,000. Too many comparisons, a bit here and there is good but not that much with the price gap in place.

I can't really watch Austin anymore after he took a swipe at President Trump. I'm sure that pissed off a lot of fans and potential fans. He clearly is not a Trump fan and I'm not sure who told him to do that - it was not a good business decision. not at all.
