I am ashamed to admit, I never knew his actual name. I just knew Brandon was one of the BEST parts of *The Good Place* season 4, and I absolutely LOVE him as Isaac Higgintoot on *GHOSTS.* That show is truly phenomenal. Brandon Scott Jones. I will remember your name now, to go along with my adoration of your acting!!

It’s just different, more sweet/upbeat. When I saw the UK original I found it grating (tho I love British comedy). I guess the version you see 1st sets the bar 🤷🏻♀️
@SPQRKlioКүн бұрын
I saw UK first but have come to adore the US one much more. It’s different humour, different history, different cultures clashing (the rapid “white party” exchange between Isaac and two other characters still has me chuckling). US Ghosts is not as consistently meanspirited as UK (oddly, or not so oddly, it got exponentially more meanspirited in the episode when one of the UK actors/producers guest starred). Don’t let the naysayers prevent you from giving it a taste. I mean, it’s not full-on lowbrow 70s farce like “Are You Being Served?” but it’s a lot of fun. Just a different tone. Like any episodic show-including UK Ghosts-it has good ones, bad ones, and fantastic ones. It gets into its rhythm very quickly over the first few episodes.

Oh. Phew. That account is actually kind of a relief. I immediately smelled some kind of symbolic minefield when I heard him referring to Google translate, because I’ve had some misadventures using that to study _German,_ and it makes the oddest mistakes. And not just along the lines of not being able to differentiate between the word “tank” as in a large, mechanical vehicle and “tank” as in something for containing liquid.

Once visiting in Vancouver, Canada, i was in this shop where a bunch of college Americans young men were being obnoxious saying ae ae ae, or however its spell. They were such a nasty arrogant, disrespectful of poor excuse of humanity. You know Stephen, you are not a college kid, and you are not obligated to use that ae ae ae that's no longer funny. Education wise...Canadians are above the States in more ways then one. You have the platform to teach them that their below knowledge, not even knowing the states and capitals of this country, let alone Canada and the rest of world. . ..

Not sure why it’s so en vogue to hate on US Ghosts, but everyone is entitled to like or dislike or be indifferent, it’s up to them. It’s fun, it has its moving moments, it has some incredible pay-attention subtleties and cultural interplay going on. UK Ghosts has an equal share of amazing moments and godawful dumb stuff, but overall it comes down to a different style. You might like both.
@oliviadaly479517 сағат бұрын
Yep. Completely different humour though. They do expand on the lore quite a lot. Unfortunately (at least to some) American humour tends to over explain things, and kinda ruins the punchline of the joke if you want to watch it again (whereas the original you can watch over and over and pick up something new every time) But once you get past the first few episodes (which are directly lifted from the UK original because of exposition) it's actually pretty good. Not as good as the original because the original is a passion project made by a comedy troupe who've been working together for 16 years and wrote for each other, and who know when to end it, and any remake is financially motivated which could lead to jumping the shark But for a US remake it's actually pretty good. And Thomas/Mat pops up in S2 E7 Dumb Deaths (about a TV show they're filming called Dumb Deaths. They missed a trick to call it Stupid Deaths) playing an actor who decides to turn Pete/Pat into a repressed, super serious, alcoholic becuase he didn't think he would really get accidentally shot by a little girl for no reason) And he's appearing in the new series of Taskmaster! I enjoy it. Also there's German (release: March 7th), French (filmed around the same time to the German one so would expect a similar release date), Greek (announced last Oct, I think for a late 2025 release) and Australian (again announced last Sept, probably a late 2025 release) and a possible Spanish version (which Simon has mentioned on podcasts but no official announcement) in the Ghosts franchise And there's rumours of a feature film but those were first reported by the Daily Star and are rumours and rumours only unless the Six Idiots/Horrible Histories gang/officially ThemThere say something
