Not quite sure that holds up, given how much she is in the dream sequences. The plodding pace of the movie's sequences (the movie as such is still kind of a ride, but the individual dream sequences are relatively long, unflinching stares at the particular object) might obscure how long she's actually there. And yes, the second part is bound to have her in it more.

@JessieBanana3 жыл бұрын
@@Mike__B True, but I think the OP was speaking not just to the literal publishing date, but to when the books were popular. Lord of the Rings was incredibly popular in the 90s (and the decade prior) when I was growing up, despite when it was published. I remember when the HP books came out, it was often said to be a more kid friendly read and those who wanted to challenge themselves (I was in the 6th grade at the time) could try their hand at LOTR. Librarians were also much more utilized as well and kept the older classics alive. I read so many things my school and public librarian suggested to me. They knew me well. I don't think Dune is very popular book right now with younger people, though this movie will bring it back into the spotlight. Books go in and out popularity, unless they're read in school.

I hate to burst your bubble but Duncan Idaho is the true main character in the Dune series. He gets reincarnated over and over again as a Ghola over the course of thousands of years by the Tleilaxu on order by the God Emperor Leto II and then by the Bene Gesserit after the God Emperor’s demise! Duncan Idaho eventually becomes the Ultimate Kwisatz Haderach long after Paul and Chani have passed on. Paul eventually loses his mind and becomes a blind desert hermit ala Obiwan Kenobi. Chani dies giving brith to Leto II and twin sister Ghanima in Book 2!!! So indeed Jason Momoa has plenty of screen time coming up if they end up making all six DUNE books into movies!

I hope & pray that The Director hasn’t made THE DUMBEST decision ever, by not filming both movie-chapters together. Hopefully, this epic tale does great Domestically, Internationally, & Critically; and the real fans demand the sequel. This first volume was FANTASTIC. I’m only disappointed in not being able to see the sequel next October. Peter Jackson would NEVER…….

It wasn't really the director's - Denis Villeneuve's - fault, he *wanted* to make both parts of the Dune adaption back-to-back. It was Warner Brothers' fault for not having complete faith in the project ! Dune has done incredibly well in Europe, though, and is very likely to also do well in the U.S. and U.K. (don't know about China), so we're going to very likely see a part 2.

I've seen it like three weeks ago in Europe ... was it released in America after Europe or is the video not up to date ? Edit: it was a beautiful experience, really liked it. But it's part 1 so the story isn't complete.

It's released in the US today (Oct. 22nd)

totally. it'd be a situation where part 2 is more acclaimed than part 1.

I will come back to this comment after I watch. I too grew up with the Lynch ver, read the book, watched the series..the Lynch ver is far from perfect and I didn’t love it but appreciated it’s interpretation and it did have character. In our time of CGI-everything, I’m hesitant to see whether it ends up accompanying a good story..or swallows it like a worm. Plus there’s only so much you can fit into 2-3hrs for a ridiculously long (and sometimes tedious) book.

In my opinion they definitely went for plot over effects

I don't know much about Timothée Chalamet, that could be the reason why I heard out Charlemagne. Zendaya a pleasure as always, I can't wait to watch that movie.
