Hi friends, I have a big life update I want to share with you. After a long internal battle, I’ve decided to leave the Mormon Church. I simply no longer believe it is true. I know this will disappoint many of my great friends and family who are members of the church. Firstly, your feelings are valid, and I’m sorry to cause you sadness. I still look back fondly on the many great experiences I had with so many of you in the Church, and I’ll cherish those memories forever. Know that my love for you hasn’t changed, and you can always be yourself around me-whatever you believe! This decision was the hardest one I’ve ever had to make. I don’t think I’ll go into all the reasons why I decided to leave here. However, I do want to let anyone who is going through a faith crisis know-you are not alone. It is okay not to be okay. And there is love and hope for you on the other side no matter what you decide is the best path for you. During my faith crisis, I wrote a number of songs that tried to capture the emotional experience I was going through. Today, I’m sharing them with you. These songs will not tell you the right answer. They will not tell you what to believe. They will simply tell you that, as you travel through the wilderness, you are not alone. With love, Colby

@@thedcsignal I’m sorry to hear this. Right after listening to this song I thought, wow, this is a great song, and what a powerful testimony you are bearing! I love this song and your words are incredible! They are hard truths spoken and sometimes there isn’t a way to explain things you explained! Keep making great music. I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ve also lost those close to me who lost a battle with depression and there’s just no words, but you found many of them. Thank you for your words and keep being you!!!

Very based. Renouncing a faith is one of the bravest things someone can do. Love the music too, emperor 🐧

I respect your decision, no one should be forced to pretend or practice something they don't believe. I will say however that in finding your music years ago I was going through the same struggles mentioned in this song. I put my dress on and went to church even when I felt empty inside. Miracles that were supposed to happen never showed up. Your album the conventional path actually helped me through some of my darkest days and to find God again. I will forever be grateful for that Colby! I'm sorry to see you leave but I know the decision you've made isn't an easy one. I do sincerely hope you are able to find the peace you're looking for, and I hope you're Ok! ❤

Ever since you became the most interesting character in Unk lore, including Curtis, I've been excited to see where you go. I''ve never been more excited for you.

As the family blacksheep i learned long ago go what is best gor you! Sometimes its right sonetines uts wrong but we learn and grow. I pulled away from friends and famiky because they made me feel unworthy but then i found peace and know God loves my perfectly imperfect life I love you and no matter what you choose in life i love you😊

This song is amazing bro, I really like it. I cringed at fatherless America all those years ago but this is sick. Consider me a fan, much love

As an aside, the line about brushing questions away reminds me of the book of Mormon play song "turn it off"

The lines about faith to not be healed and for the mountains to not move are genius and feel very deep and genuine. I keep coming back to this song, I hope you get more exposure and good luck!

This is a song about a crisis of faith and leaving the church and yet it is better Christian music than any of the big Christian bands. Simply because it is genuine, not some top-down, toxic positivity feelgood bullshit. Being a Christian involves struggling with the faith and that is what everyone forgets
