Colchester Triumph 2000 lathe

I did my apprenticeship from ‘76 to ‘80 in a factory on the south coast which made assemblies for Colchester lathes. We machined and assembled the complete saddle gearboxes, made tailstocks, tops slides and compound slides. After working in all departments, I ended up running the gearcutting, induction hardening, drilling and broaching workshop. A good indentured apprenticeship. Still running a manufacturing facility some 45 years later!

I need your opinion on Colchester lathe

Very well the video when I was young I worked with a lathe colchester equal to that of the video for many years and I think it is one of the best lathes to manufacture precision pieces what I never knew is who makes it you know who is the manufacturer of colchester and the country of origin? What types of scale is that ? Can the two axis auto feed at the same time?

Hi Ryan both scales are glass linear 5 micron resolution we also have the same kits available in magna scale you can order over the phone or on the website www.gtprecision.co.uk in answer to you question both scales will show being moved on the console if you move both handles together but the Triumph can only feed in one axis at a time thanks for the question Best Regards Darren Goodwin Goodwin Technology

Hi James that would be a pre 1979 machine because it has the mechanical footbrake we sold it a long while ago so I can remember the exact year best regards Darren Goodwin Goodwin Technology
