Happy New Year - we had -6C overnight last night, 10m above sea level in the Forth Valley in Central Scotland. All the hills are well covered with snow too but it’s forecast to get (a tiny bit) warmer tonight! Light snow is forecast for the weekend here but the Midlands of England (>200 miles south of me) are looking forward to a big dump. I’m off-roading in the Scottish hills on the west coast at the weekend so don’t want too heavy a fall or too far below zero temperatures. At least it’s been our first totally cloudless day since before Christmas here and it looks like it will be more of the same up to Saturday.

Happy New Year to You and all members, I wish all fans of weather forecasts many exciting events this year but without casualties and major damage 🙏 Otherwise we are following a narrow cold front that will increase after leaving the Alps, up to half a meter is expected in mountainous Croatia, especially the Lika area, the front will be accompanied by a sudden drop in temperature and more than ten degrees with a strong wind, Bosnia will gain heavy snow too. A look at the polar vortex suggests a change in currents to extreme northerlies during the middle of this month and this will be a sign of a strong impact of winter in the second half of January for Kanada and USA⛄❄️🏔️

Snow has become a rarity here in western Slovenia or Slovenia in general. All fronts from N and NW skip us because of the Alps while the fronts from the S just brings rain with high snow altitude. Sadly it seems to be new normality that we get green winters while lower Balkans has abundance of snow.

@WeatherWatcher14 Yeah we normally get our bad weather from an Adriatic low and the cold from the east. This winter everything came from the west and north but we are shielded by the Alps so when they got pummeled with snow we just had Foehn winds that blew away any clouds and accelerated the temperature. Having a microclimate in a basin location is interesting everytime :D I mean the last two years we had 15-18 degrees around New Year and the cafés by the vineyards reopened to sit outside haha

I hate that the snow and cold intentionally stop before arriving in the Romanian southern plains...10-15 years ago we were having maximum 5 degrees in the day, usually 0 and sometimes -5 or even -10...snow was always falling in November and ALWAYS in December (I am talking about Bucharest weather, at 100m altitude)...now, we didn't get any snow in November, December and we didn't get one single day with the maximum temp below 0 (sometimes it needs fog, not just cold blasts). I feel a 5 degree Celsius or more change in the winter. Summer heatwaves are getting crazy (summer 2024 was record breaking for Romania for top temps and for 22 days with over 35 degree temps!!! That cold anticyclone does not come anymore and push far into Europe, giving some snow even in southern Spain... I love your videos tho, very interesting and useful for many!

Is there a reason you focus on the weather from Scotland to Turkey and leave out south west Europe and the north west? We also have weather you know? If you cover the Nordic it's mostly about western Norway and not the rest of Scandinavia and the Baltics/Poland/Northern Germany/south Sweeden/Denmark. Is there a reason, maybe amount of people watching the channel?

I hope rain finally arrive to Lisbon and all south of Portugal, if i had taken a foto in early November, the same one would be UpToDate today, blue sky forever and water evaporate fast, the only change was temperature, November was at 20 ºC and now 14ºC daytime temp.
