You know this is one of the most depressing episodes. What really tugs are your hearstrings though is the older brother, all those years he thought he had killed his baby sister so he refused to hold his own little girl for fear he would kill her. Then here at the end he's finally able to hold his own baby because he knows he didn't kill his sister, his mother was sick and that was the reason Iris died. He was free to love and dote on his baby and you can clearly see how happy he is to hold her.
@JoybuzzerX6 жыл бұрын
I'm just curious why you said his mother was sick, instead of saying, "It was actually his mother who killed his sister." True, post partum depression wasn't known back then, but depression is never an excuse for letting such a thing happen to begin with. Which, is of course, why the cops take her away, but I wouldn't have felt sorry for her, especially considering she let her son believe he did it.

Given that Molly was suffering from postpartum psychosis, which was not understood as well in 1982 as it is today, it's hard to completely hate her for killing Iris. What she can be hated for is letting her ex-husband and son think the son did it...

I think Cold Case always had very nice endings. It was always shown the case being solved but also a good ending for those that died. (Spiritually speaking if you die tragically the spirit is more likely to stay.) So I also felt a sense of relieve when the spirits of those departed were finally able to rest in peace with the truth known.

I'm glad that the stigma surrounding post partum depression and psychosis is being lifted. Tragedies such as Andrea Yates and others can be avoided if mothers are treated and encouraged to get help.

This is the saddest "Cold Case" ever. Every member of the family is affected. The father feels guilt, the son feels guilt, and ultimately, the mother did too. Their family was fractured, but at the end , they were together at the baby's grave.

Investigator Miller notices a photo of a closed case of Iris, the six month old baby girl with wet hair in the photo which made her question the cause of death as sudden infant death syndrome. The married couple were brought in for questioning as the team investigates whether the baby girl might have died from drowning. Molly, the mother, was suffering from post-pardum depression. She decided to put Iris in the cold snow, where Iris obviously died.
