The band broke up in 1983 and reformed in 1998. They have formed on many tours since. Jimmy Barnes and Ian Moss had successful solo careers. Don Walker remains a prolific songwriter to this day

They were professional musicians by 1983 and always arguing and fighting over the music......the reason they agreed to split and end it. They all wrote great songs, even the drummer..... Ian went on to have a successful and respected solo career . Jimmy went on to be Australias biggest superstar singer ever, and was still performing until hospitalised not long ago. He is now recuperating and ready to perform again.

Have subbed for this. Cold Chisel are my favourite Aussie band and have been since the 70s. I was at this concert, one of the best and saddest nights. Best coz, well it's chisel, worst coz it was their last performance together. Mossy is an awesome guitarist.

Georgia ( on my mind ) is from the 1930's and first recorded by Hoagy Carmichael Ray Charles introduced the song to a world audience in the 1950's or maybe early 1960's. This performance is unrehearsed and a fill in for time........Jimmy took a pitstop to answer a call of nature. While Jimmy was off stage, Ian decided to keep the audience amused with this little improvised number. lol

I've been a fan of the gold standard by Ray Charles literally all my life. I've heard dozens of covers over the decades. This is the first version that, while being uniquely Ian Moss', oozes the same type of soul and emotion as did Ray. That goes for both the vocals as well as playing the guitar with as much feeling as Ray Charles put into the piano.

Jimmy and Ian are still performing. Jimmy recently issued a Christmas album and last week had to cancel a concert when he contracted bacterial pneumonia. Ian Moss has also released a new album and is touring in 2023/2024.

Jimmy ended up in surgery for a heart valve effected by the pneumonia. 2nd replacement, get well Jimmy Barnes.

Leaving Chisel to go solo was like dumping Liz Taylor to play the field at the local "grab a granny" beer barn. Gotta pay for that busted heart, literally, and I am sure that the others tolerate him in short bursts for a reason.

Chisel was greater than Jimmy alone, no argument, and I wish they had worked it out. But it's their lives, and they likely didn't make those decisions lightly. But I agree with your sentiment.
