Jeju Island is NOT a "semi-tropical" island, it's subtropical. Which means getting snow is rare but certainly not unheard of. I also hear people try to call Okinawa tropical, which is also wrong.

It’s good that some people realise that the continent of Asia begins around Japan in the east, sweeps across Taiwan, Korea, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, China, Mongolia - then entering towards Indonesia, Iran/Iraq, Afghanistan, Tibet, India, Jordan, then covering Kuwait, the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Israel in the west - when a cold weather pattern hits an area *that* vast, then we know something is going on…

So true. It’s all part of extreme weather due to climate change. I saw on the news yesterday that sleepy Joe chose climate change as the number one threat to the world even before China. Second on the list of threat to the world was China obviously. We had scorching hot summer last year it went up to 38c…unbearable temperatures almost everyday. Then this year -5c in a place it doesn’t go below freezing…yeah crazy.

Here in Japan, yes it’s unusually cold all over. -5c in Tokyo at night yesterday, usually 3c even at lowest. It’s cold now I can feel it. Yep people are generally surprised as it doesn’t get this cold in Tokyo. It doesn’t get minus something usually, in up north sure, -20c easily in Ski resorts, powder snow up north, very nice there, but some areas had unusually large amount of snow up to 4 meter+. We aren’t in short of energy though unlike Europe. Nuclear power plants all over Japan, several dozens of them. We never relied on Russian energy unlike Germany even before the conflict started last February so we aren’t that impacted. I recall only a single digit %, now it’s sanctioned. So no one here is freezing to death luckily. The same cannot be said about China, yeah some are having tough time there as CCP turned off heat in some areas, people there were seen complaining to the municipality on local news.

Population needs to be in balance with jobs, resources, nature and the environment. Having a bigger population in any country than the country can support makes no sense. Access to food, water, shelter, energy and jobs should guide population levels. The worlds population is still expected to add another billion people to feed, clothe and produce pollution. Humans are crowding out all other species of plants and animals. Education and birth control are key to reducing poverty and hunger. Having a child that you can not provide for yourself is cruel and irresponsible. We need solutions not just sympathy. Endless population growth is not sustainable on a finite planet. Every country needs to "TRY" to be more self sufficient. When there are not enough resources to sustain a population something has to give. Countries need to focus on quality of life for their citizens and not just quantity of life for cheap labor. Why import fossil fuels when wind and solar energy can be produced locally and solar energy can power electric vehicles. We need solutions not just sympathy.

Climate change has really affected the Philippines! The last rainy season led to vegetable shortages. Each year has seen an increasing intensity in typhoons. Temperatures are much lower than they should be at present.
