Hi Michael I was just watching the video and reading the replies to. There is a whole pile of guys here commenting know F@#k all about tuning for truck and tractor pullers. With how they start and run even in the summer on a hot day, until they warm up a bit. With cam work, compression lowered a wicked timing setting , and a good chunk of over fueling flooding it out a bit. I'm impressed it even started in the winter without a circulating block heater and half a can of ether like some pullers need to get them going for a run !.

Start. It’s guaranteed to start with in 10 seconds of cranking and NEVER stalls unless you bog down the engine from being hard on it while operating it. I start it every day / every other day from October to April in the cold. And it’s never failed us yet. P.S we haven’t touched anything on the engine except for the fluids and obviously batteries in the 20 years time we owned it (duh)

This is why I'd never have a diesel in places where it get's really cold in the winter. They just suck in extreme cold.
@Bent0995 жыл бұрын
block heater solves that problem
@mikeznel60484 жыл бұрын
Newer, not beat on clapped out junknstart just fine in the cold, even without a block heater. Never had a problem with the Duramax in the cold, it gets to 0 and colder for about month too. And lake effect snow, lots of it.

Jesus the lope when it started looked like it was rocking the truck. All these people complaining about it being terrible don't see that cammed vehicles are barely running at idle. They are getting the minimal amount of fuel and air to run. Nice truck bro
@YeCannyDaeThat10 жыл бұрын
ITs nothing to do with the glowplugs or temp of the engnie, Diesel gels when its cold, so the fuel in the tank and lines is no good till you warm that up
@AndreyYeltsov9 жыл бұрын
This is not true. You have to run the engine for a dozen of minutes to get the fuel tank heated. Glow plugs have gone, so he has to crank the engine badly to pre-heat the chambers before it would start.
@JayElement139 жыл бұрын
Cummins don't have glow plugs they have a heater grid
@AndreyYeltsov9 жыл бұрын
Jay Jones you are right, but a failed heater grid produces the same cold start issue.
@JayElement139 жыл бұрын
ur right a weak grid can cause cold starting issues in cold weather there's no clue how long it sat unplugged and not adding diesel 911 in the tank 2 reduce gelling

WhiteBoyWithAnIpod Cummins is a Diesel engine manufacturer that never made engines for trucks until ram partnered with them. They made heavy equipment and machinery Diesel engines etc. they are super reliable, cheap on parts, (mechanically) and virtually bulletproof if you take care of it correctly.
@dthac16 жыл бұрын
What are you on about? Cummins was making Diesel Truck engines way before they put them in anything else. Everyone talks about the 5.9 like its some god, its a freaking backhoe engine joint venture between case and cummins for heavy equipment. Before that Cummins made 80% of their engines for semi Trucks. 855, 350 big cam, 400 big cam, N14, M11. Those are the engines Cummins are actually known for.
