Always amazes me when something 80 to over 100 years old is stiil in operation today. I know machinery has evolved over the last century, but in a throw away society we live in theres nothing can stand the test of time as these ancient engines. They are awesome.

These things were built so simple but yet so strong. They do last.

Hey my friend, that's a nice, (and rare), engine you have there. I have a 1928 5 HP Jaeger that I restored but it was a bear to start. I made a hand crank that slips over the end of the left hand shaft with a ramped notch that catches the fly wheel key. When it starts, it pushes the crank off the key with no safety issues at all. I just prime and ready the engine, hold the exhaust valve in until I get some RPM's up and then let the valve close... works great. Looks like you might be a bit of a fabricator and that set up might work for you too. Best to you.

Thank you ! Yeah it’s not too bad to start. I have a few things that were worn on it and I think it will start easier once tightened up and better timed. But yeah some some videos of guys using a crank on it. Definitely not out if the question for me 👍🏻

Eu gosto de ver o funcionamento desses motores. Ele é a gasolina ou diesel?
@tractorjim Жыл бұрын
Thank you. This is Gasoline.

It unlatches and closes the exhaust valve. Not opens it. I still hit like 👍
