I happen to have a fairly clean 88 cutlass Ciera XC here in Northern California. Willing to make a sell or trade. Only 95k miles original 3.8l v6 motor. Runs like a champ even does burnouts lol.

I had bought a '88 burgundy International series coupe new. At 125k miles, I gave it to my dad and he actually got it to nearly 300k till the torque converter died. I still miss that car to this day. Was phenomenal.

Love that steering wheel and guage cluster. Wish my 95 Cutlass-Ciera had that style. Mine has the "brick" steering wheel (with air bag) and a guage cluster with a giant speedo but no tach.

I loved this chasis. sounds like a mass air issue.

I have a 1985 Ciera Hess & Eisenhardt Convertible with the great 3.8 which is one of the best engines GM made in the 80's and 90's. Great on gas and lots of power.

Cold start of a 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera International Series. It has a 3.8 fuel injected V6. Runs very rich and rough when cold.

How many miles? While its still running, i would suggest changing the camshaft chain and pulley. Mine blew all its teeth at approx. 200,000 miles. They used a nylon gear on the camshaft and they just wear over time. Otherwise, great car! Lors of jam and grst handling. Best handling car ive ever owned. I miss mine a lot.

Sadly I sold mine to a friend for super cheap that needed wheels. Shortly thereafter the timing chain let go, car only had 88k on it. They scrapped it!
@AdrianWaitemusic Жыл бұрын
@@wranglersnmt the timing chain wasn't even that hard to replace. A buddy and I did it in a few hours and she was back on the road. Those old 3.8's were nearly bulletproof, except for that and throttle position sensors. I could get those cheap at a wrecker, though.

@@AdrianWaitemusic Agreed 100%, made me sad when I found out they just junked it.

I’ve got a similar problem and I think it’s the mass air flow sensor cus when I was tricking the carb with the air flow sensor it idled and ran good with no stalling, idk if that’s ur problem but it might help
@donedoofus1236 ай бұрын
I have one as well and it idols rough and the rpms drop when you hold it at 2500, did you ever fix the issue?
@donedoofus1235 ай бұрын

Did you ever have problems with this cars tachometer? I've got the exact same car, and my tach does not read properly.
@Hammer01659 жыл бұрын
Brandon Mucklow I had that on my Ciera, it has to do with a resistor in the tach that fails. You can easily bypass it. Check a-body.net for a guide.

Will that gauge cluster fit my 87 century
@ejd1984 Жыл бұрын
I doubt it. The divisions had designed different instrument panels, and the mounting holes may not line up.
@chrisridel1525 жыл бұрын
Is this the factory gauge cluster?

Yes

if you still have this car that is a gas problem and it needs a tune up the right way.
