Really great group of saws, the vintage saw sounds so smooth,just wow. I go my 30 year old O11 Stihl running the other day , it's ported so much fun!

I have an affection for the older stihls also. The new saws are nicer in almost every category, but you can’t look past nostalgia. Thanks for watching.

As soon as you said you were going to start all of these saws, I knew you were going to be tired, lol.

Cool video… a great grouping of saws and I too was surprised with the 620. It seemed as if it may have been tuned a bit rich
@whatsthebuzz111 ай бұрын
Yeah that’s my guess too. I’m going to adjust the 620 and I’ll bet she goes down to that 5 pull range. Thanks for watching.

We don't get very cold in the south of England, but after 6 months of sitting in my shed, my Husqvarna 455 Racher started on the second pull at 3 Celsius!

@@whatsthebuzz1 keeping my eyes out for a 562 or 572 next, stihl is just a little to pricy for what I use it for
@whatsthebuzz111 ай бұрын
If you can find a 572 when husqvarna has there sales I would recommend that! Usually about twice per year they run them 15% off.

I am looking to add a chainsaw to my current ms 260 for firewood, only do 4 chord a year. It’s between the Echo 620 and Ms 400? I can spend the extra but rather not, I am 55 and hung up on the weight, any advice?
@whatsthebuzz15 ай бұрын
You won’t regret the 620.
@Tcw201911 ай бұрын
Echos are cold blooded but they usually pop off after 3 pulls, same with my stihls and husky’s honestly so that 620 is odd. Good selection!!
@whatsthebuzz111 ай бұрын
I think it just needs a carb adjustment. It’s factory stock and could have been a little out of tune. Thanks for watching.

I think if you had not used the de-comp on the 620 it would have started quicker, I could hear that valve seal up the right before it started. My 365 X-torq starts in 3-5 pulls down to about -15c, beyond that I give it a couple pulls with the choke on and the ignition off for a primer. Not sure how much benefit there is on a saw, just a habit I picked up from starting sleds when its really cold.

Really to be fair you need to use all new plugs, new air cleaners and fresh gas.
@Husqvarna575XP6 ай бұрын
Most saws start better without pressing the decompression valve. I bet the 620 and 395 would fire right up after 2-3 pulls if you didnt press it. I mean thats my experience on the Echos. The Autotune saws also starts pretty good when its negative, but they start terrible when its hot and you have used them.
@Rob-tl9md11 ай бұрын
That isn't a primer. That is a purge bulb.
@whatsthebuzz111 ай бұрын
Yeah i guess technically it could be called that. Either way it gets the air out of the line and fuel in it. Thanks for watching.
@Rob-tl9md11 ай бұрын
@@whatsthebuzz1 I guess my point is it doesn't squirt fuel. Years ago they used to have primers that would squirt fuel right in the intake.
@active2attractive7511 ай бұрын
You just had to say something huh? Yk everyone calls them primes 💀

Primers*
@williamhamilton833211 ай бұрын
I have an old Sachs Dolmar 120 Super that the bulb cracked on while out cutting in the cold. So I plugged the tube on the carb and the tank and used only the choke to start it when cold. It is called a “Primer Bulb” because it pulls fuel out of the tank and puts it thru the carb then back to the tank for easier starting.. What is the purpose of the Choke ? to close the throttle valve and pull fuel out of the tank to the carb. That little hole in the throttle valve forces fuel to be pulled from the fuel tank by vacuum created by the piston. It does “purge” air out of the line it is connected to but the purpose is to pull fuel from the tank and run it through the carb to “prime” it prior to starting…try this.. take two saws one with a primer bulb and one without, see which one starts first..no offense intended

Cool comparison video, very informative. Are you up for a collaboration? Hipa supplies all kinds of parts for chainsaw and other outdoor power equipment. Maybe we could talk more about a collaboration to help more chainsaw users? I just shot you an email.
@garymcmullin229211 ай бұрын
well ya, I appreciate your effort and the merit in your intentions, but the operator is a variable, how you operate the choke , how you pull the cord, not consistent by any means. Then for the saws, we would have to have a base line characteristic for each one in warmer weather because there could be some degree of tuning or operating character unique to that saw which would factor in here in such a test. Suffice it to say cold weather readily complicates engine start up, just a fact of life.
