The 4Max Scout is the kind of Cold Steel folder that you don't need, but you want it. I bought this big brute for home defense. But I fell in love with it because it is ridiculous and beautiful at the same time. It just has that Wow factor going for it! Good showing of the knife!

Don't Sleep on that AUS-10 , it has one of the Best Edge Retention's out of all the non-powdered stainless steels out there , just check out Cedric & Ada's video on it , it cut the rope about 150 times with the factory edge , that's a Great number and I think that's just a little bit better than AUS-8 (around 40) , don't you think . That's better than D2 and 154CM . Cold Steel always does a Great job with their steels . The knife is a BEAST, it's a Demko Design , it's well worth the money , just buy one ....

@JohnBob I have two AD10s and my 4 max scout. The Aus 10 will do just fine for every day use. Check out some torture videos on KZbin it’s a very tough steel for the money. Not to mention your getting 10oz of knife with that 4 Max. I do however prefer my AD10 over the scout. The ergos are better due to the contoured g10.

I love them Both , but I have XL hands and the AD10 is a smidge tight in my hand , I was thinking about opening up the handle a bit with my Dremel , it wouldn't be the first or last time I'd have to Mod knife .... 👍🤙🖖

I have a few AUS-8 and AUS-10 knives; and even though they are different knives with varying sizes and grinds, I found that AUS-10 retains the edge way longer that AUS-8 does. Both are easy to sharpen, though..

Great comparison, I've found the tri-ad lock always very stiff and tight on all my new CS knives, but with a bit of time and oil they do improve (I think the tri-ad is the best and offer great security and usability).

Thank u for ur honest opinion. I do like the inexpensive 4MAX, but for car camping only. Looks like the AD 10 fits the bill to use for work n camping. Keep up the good job.

Cold Steel do made some fine rugged knives. I have couple of the old Cold Steel Voyager with built-in Zytel nylon pocket clip purchased when I was a young man:-) The famous back lock of Cold Steel been around for a long time and they are rugged. Thanks for the nice review.

Carried the AD 10 yesterday and it’s so damn good as well! The AD 10 ergos are spot on. I’d say it’s about perfect for my large size hands. The pocket clip is actually well thought out a lot of people complain about it but when you grip the knife with some pressure that clip doesn’t create a hotspot.

I have each of these too. I don't think they come with an addition clip as many Cold Steel knives do, because these models have reversable clips.

My only experience with the Triad lock has been on a _CS Voyager,_ and it's definitely a *THUMB BUSTER!* (I think I'd wear a Band Aid like you are!)

Thanks for the great video. Luv my 4 max scout 62 rq and but like to check out ad 10 and get also if I had money. I EDC a 3 inch blade as only aloud to carry the 4 max, any blade over 3 inches, for work or recreation like camping in my city / county. I wood EDC the 4 max in a jacket pocket if it was legal as it is great to have my small knife in combination with the big knife. I carry the 4 max when legal when I am in a place where my fixed blades would draw in wanted attention. Some people are uncomfortable around any knife and I do not want to scare them plus do not always like to carry knife on the belt and that is the only to ever carry a fixed blade legaly in my state. Hope every one is being smart and staying safe and healthy.

The AD10 is the one out of the four that I want the most, but the 4Max Scout is the only one of the four that is inexpensive enough for me to seriously consider buying, not because any of them is not worth it but only because I don't have much money for nonessential items. Cold Steel has announced an AD15 Lite for 2021, but the MSRP is not lite enough. What would be best would be an AD10 Lite in AUS-10 with Griv-Ex for $80. We're allowed to dream.

For the extra weight (4 Oz. ) the 4 Max only delivers about a half inch more than the AD 10. No Brainer. I'm in the canoe with you.

Compared them and bought the AD10 for my emergency evacuation kit. AD15 might be a problem to close using heavy leather mitts in -30C here in Canada onehanded. The MAX are nice but too big, even AD10 is too big, but I will have to suffer with this beast. Ha! Actually after 200+ knives I only carry one knife. Large Gerber Swagger half serrated. My first knife from years ago. All the others are just collectible.

Another review of this knife that is all blah, blah, blah … No portion of this video shows this knife actually being used to complete real world tasks. Is that because the reviewer never used the knife? I have watched 10-12 reviews of this knife and they are all basically the same chit-chat. No action shots of the knife being used.
