A good value on a solid double edged knife that will not fall apart.

Thanks for the video. I really enjoyed it. It's my understanding that daggers are supposed to be handle heavy. Apparently the heavy handle improves stabbing...like a hammer driving a nail. The Boker Applegate-Fairbairn has lead weights added to its handle for this very reason.

Now I want one or two, I know you know a good knife once you used it. Thanks for the review John

Hey great review, thanks for doing it! Just got this from my sister for my birthday. I got to say it's pretty outstanding. I'm in love with it. Beautiful thickness, heft and build quality. Definitely my new boot-knife/last ditch knife. I carried my "Kershaw 4351 Military Knife" so long it started to warp into the shape of my ankle and the sheath has long since fallen apart. The problem with a thin blade, heat and time I guess. Love that mini anvil and setup you got there!

Just got this knife, great knife for 40$! My only problem with it is the sheath retention is a little low. Any tips on how to increase sheath retention on a secure ex sheath? a good hard bump or two and this knife slides right out!

I just have it at about halfway out the sheath .. it’s the best I can do

Has anyone thrown this knife? A Fairbairn-sykes commando knife throws peefectly.
@WMDTVIDS Жыл бұрын
I've thrown it a little, but i want to preserve the point. It's a bit handle heavy for my tastes but its a good knife overall.

I owned the Gerber Mk I boot knife in the early 90's...twice! Sold them both times too like a boob. Don't sell your knives. I have one of these on order and plan to do a fancy leather wrap on the handle.

A cylinder (tubular) rubber handle will make it better

too bulky, and it would make tracking edge orientation less intuitive. Still considering the regrind/rehandle on mine.

Do you think if you drilled holes in the middle of that handle fuller, it would compromise the strength at all? I don't really know how I-beam engineering works, really. Shouldn't all lateral stress go to the raised portions?
@WMDTVIDS6 жыл бұрын
Based on where I would drill the holes, I would not worry about it- you won't by prying open a tank with it. Holes toward the butt end is where I would start, just to make it less handle heavy. I'd even consider some handle inlay for cold weather carry, and to cover up any ugliness of the holes. The significant mod in my mind would be changing the edge geometry. Its pretty sharp as is, but once both edges get to where i'd like them....it would be a knife that most people would have to be very careful with, not being used to two edges that will really cut.

Did we know these can't be sold by Amazon.com in California? Better buy other places than Amazon.com if you live in California.
@WMDTVIDS Жыл бұрын
Well, I'm truly sorry about that. Though it's no surprise. California is a beautiful state, and it used to have so much to offer, but unfortunately is governed by some people with strange mindsets.

These go for about AU$87.00 / US$64.00 in Australia. Is that a good deal do you think? Cool vid :)

How is the grip on that metal handle? Seems like it would slip in your hand a bit.

I did not find it terrible, though it could stand some modification. It was Ok with gloves, the guard is pretty good.
