In a self defense situation, the 6” serrated is the way to go, hands down. Thats the one I got.

With the kris blade its even a kind of double serrated blade. Very nasty.

I dare you to use your espada xl at work instead of ti lite Kris and see what the coworkers will say! lol! 😂. I own many cold steels including the 6” ti lite and espada xl and there is a huge difference in size as we both know! 😊

Far back CS had an in between size. At least on their voyagers. Todays XL size was called XXL and there was an XL size which was in between.

I really like the look of the Kriss blade, but what is it good for? And is the fine edge kriss better or the serrated? Or what is the fine edge better at than the serrated? Sorry for all the questions just wanting to make the right decision before hand. Loved the review, need more people with your enthusiasm to make reviews! Subbed.

Hello! It’s actually designed for optimal slashing of meat etc but that’s not what I use it for although they work very well against breaking down large cardboard boxes. I like both the fine and serrated edge and use the serrated more for at work. I tend to cut a lot of zap straps at work and the serrated cuts them like butter whereas the fine edge would have a hard time. So it depends what kind of use you plan on doing with your knife. The fine edge would be better for cutting paper or fabric or anything where you want a smooth fine cut. The serrated is great for just tearing through whatever is in its path but can leave some ragged cuts compared to the fine edge. Thank you for the feedback and I appreciate the sub! I’ve collected quite a bit more knives over the past few months and I’ve been thinking about using my channel to a larger extent and doing more knife reviews.

@@DumbbellCentral Thanks very much for the reply! I really just like how it looks but if I can use it for other things I would go for the blade with the most usability. If you don’t mind answering one or two more questions, I can’t remember where I saw the info but a lot of people say serrated don’t blunt as fast, and can still be used when blunt? But once a fine edge is blunt that’s it. Then I got told serrated blades have limited uses, and the “teeth” get chocked up with material fast? Then a lot of people say Kris blades are good defensive tools but then so are serrations, so would the two combined make a good defence? (Not that I’m wanting it for such a thing, I just makes me wonder why they have made versions like this in the past for wars and such.) But I’ve seen a few people now say they use serrated blades all the time now, and I’m so confused because I’ve als ways been told serrated isn’t as good for an all rounder as a fine edge? My last question is how do you sharpen a Kris blade, and then how do you sharpen a serrated kris?

@@kylethedalek that’s a lot of questions! I’m no knife expert, just an enthusiast, but I’ll try and answer as best as I can! It’s true serrated will still cut when fairly blunt and a fine edge will not, but a fine edge can be resharpened when blunt no problem and with greater ease than a serrated blade. The serrations definitely get choked with material if cutting things like cardboard but it’s never really bothered me. Kris knives would be good for defense as the blade shape was originally designed for increased slashing ability so the blade design, plus serrations, would be very good for defense in my limited opinion. I would agree that the better all around knife for just every day use would be the fine edge. Again I use my full serrated blades for work because it suits my tasks very well over a fine edge but when I’m at home or out and about I always carry a fine edge knife. I would sharpen a Kris blade basically the same as a regular blade, just very carefully. I would try to not let it get ridiculously dull and keep it sharp regularly with a sharpening steel so that you don’t need to do major sharpening with a stone which is possible but a bit tricky. I sharpen my serrated knives almost identically to a regular blade with the exception being that I use a sharpening steel to aid with getting in the little teeth themselves. Almost like flossing your teeth but flossing the teeth on the blade with a sharpening steel. Hope this answers some of your questions!

I had a 6”, but sold it with others I’m selling. That 4” just looks too small for that blade presentation, but I’m jonesing for a serrated version for the damage it would inflict if need be, much like a Spyderco Civilian. Your thoughts on the 4”?
@DumbbellCentral
@DumbbellCentral 3 жыл бұрын
I’ve only had 6” ti-lites up until now and am finding that I’m reaching for the 4” more and more. It fits really nicely in the pocket and the blade presentation is not bad in person so I’m really liking it.

Which would you recommend out of the 6 inch ti lites? -plain -kris -serrated kris
@DumbbellCentral
@DumbbellCentral 6 ай бұрын
Hello! It’s hard to say really. For work I preferred the serrated as it cuts through things like zap straps really easily. For personal EDC use I would lean towards the plain edge 6” Kris

Stupidly sharp like the rest of the blade. Not sure if you are familiar with Cold Steel or not but their blades always come ridiculously sharp and the serrations on their knives come just as wickedly sharp.

@@sturmgewehr70 Oh ok awesome! So if you’re familiar with the serrations on the Voyager knives these are exactly the same and are equally as sharp even though the blade is a bit thicker. Hope that helps! I could always upload a video highlighting the serrations if you’d like just let me know!
