Those of you that are watching this and wondering if this is actually good work? I am 100 percent letting you know this is professional old time craftmanship at its finest, Mr Wallace is an expert at his knife making best. Being the owner of these knives I can tell you he converted these knives into works of art and will be heirlooms I hand down. Excellent work I cannot recommend his work enough. Rangers Lead The Way. I was commenting on the cable tang of the original design. It seems completely illogical to me. I get it that they did it for a reason, I get it that it’s probably a complex process, but give me a full tang knife all day.

Thanks Juan!

His conversions are structurally poor compared to the tang as manufactured. That you don’t know this means I call your opinion false.

Great Job. But to be honest, I have always heard how bad the cable tang was. But I have yet to see a video showing a failure with it. I have seen failure in some of the other Cold Steel full tang knives being broken. And I have seen videos of the Laredo and Natchez being broken in other places. Just not the tang. This is by no means trying to take away from your excellent craftsmanship. You have done an outstanding job. Just giving a fair honest opinion on the cable tang.

Yes, this is a hidden tang, in the false full tang style, common in knifes made in pakistan. This type of tang can be sufficient if it is not to skinny etc.

Can anyone explain why the original handle on these knives are made the way that they are? Is the blade steel pretty good, hard, all things considered?
@TTellKey Жыл бұрын
They do, they make them for fighting and the cable tang is actually more expensive to manufacture than a full tang. Look it up, don't get fooled!
@tango-bravo Жыл бұрын
@@TTellKey how do you know that it’s more expensive? Is the cable welded to the blade steel or is it glued on? If it’s welded on how do they heat treat it after it’s welded?
@TTellKey Жыл бұрын
@@tango-bravo simply because it's much more complicated to manifacture a cable-tang. There are many more steps in the process.
@tango-bravo Жыл бұрын
@@TTellKey just because something is more complicated doesn’t mean it’s better, right?
@TTellKey Жыл бұрын
@tango-bravo well it has to be. If it's more complicated it MUST be more expensive. This is an undeniable fact. It's not even up for debate. What's the likelihood a knife manufacturer build a knife unnecessarily expensive? That doesn't make any sense! Right? The only problem is, people like you refuse to accept the fact that the knife is made for FIGHTING. NOT batoning. It's very simple. But if somebody wants to baton with it, and want to rebuild it? Sure! Fantastic. Just don't say the knife is lacking in design and from manufacturing. That's all I'm saying.

" If you're squeamish, dont watch." You know its gonna be bad, but you just cant prepare yourself enough 😢.
@marc3141510 күн бұрын
the Handle is the most expensive part to manufacture. the Original Design is stronger. The whole Idea is to Reduce Stress Fractures that form in the tang (over long-term use). Full tang knives often brake at the handle (from long term use). Additionally, why else would they chose to go with the strongest steel they can find? (CPM 3V); if they didn't intend for the knife to take heavy abuse. your knife turned out looking good tho. I question its Durability during heavy use.

Honestly saying, too much work, I would reject this client. Depends on his budget, of course. As for me, it's 10 times easier to cut a new knife from a single piece of steel rather than to fix something like this. He will never use it anyway, it's a wall hanger.

30cent piece of wire in a 200$ knife tang
@nobilismaximusАй бұрын
Sorry what, i thought you were going to weld a steel extension to the tang to replace the cable with solid steel. What you did there was weaken the handle. Moreover, if you wanted a real full tang you’d have removed the guard and welded steel to the shoulders at the tang and around the tang with a notched piece of steel then opened up the guard hole to fit over newly built up “ full” tang. In short, doing nothing to the knife would have been a better option for structural integrity than what you did.
@jtr1092 ай бұрын
That’s not a full tang. It’s the same stub tang, hidden under an aluminum frame. Probably weaker than the original cable tang.
