Proof that a knife doesn't need to be fancy to be good. Edit: I get it. It's really really good steel. What I mean by "fancy" is that there is no saw, no compass, no "mall ninja" accessories. It's a simple blade, and that's all it means to be.

More like arrived at them haha. The hyper expensive stuff has mostly always been solid but In the 90s cold steel under 200 was basically junk, just standard mall ninja crap with slightly better metal than their Chinesium competition. Maybe I just had particularly bad luck but I recall the grinds being god awful. Their improvement from like the mid 2000s on have been super impressive, all the sudden we have great axes and tomahawks even in their budget lines. Can't really comment on the knives unfortunately, I should probably give them a try, but it's incredibly difficult to beat Morakniv or Opinel in the budget market and I would rather buy from a private blacksmith if i'm going expensive.

What do you even mean, do you mean bending it back and forth without it breaking is absurd, that proves it's quality steel, or do you mean bending it back and forth without taking a break between bends is absurd, because he's testing the knife on video, he trying to show how much and it can take, he tests knives and gear to see what is better and what is crap, so I'm not sure exactly what is absurd about either one

I used to work at a gun store and a Cold Steel rep called us up one time to try to get their products in the store. I was in no position to make a call like that, but the rep was insistent on sending me whatever knife I wanted from their catalog. He literally just let me take my pick. I got a Recon 1 with a serrated blade, but he sent an extra one without the serrated edge "just in case". I gave the non-serrated one to another worker, and still carry that knife to this day. Probably 10+ years old. You could shave with it right out of the box. I tried to put in a good word with the product manager, but I don't know if they ever talked. It's a great knife, and their customer service was top notch

I used to hate cold steel until someone told me the machetes weren't actually made by them just stamped with their brand. Gave them another shot. Gotta say their knives and axes are superb.i love spyserco, crkt and others but cold steel is great.

Great to see someone wise enough to wear eye protection while chopping.

I bought one a few weeks ago. high quality. the sheath makes contact with the blade slightly. that's the only criticism of the knife I have.

I have the gen1 3v SRK. It doesn't seem to dull at all on woodwork, holds an edge ridiculously well, i think its gone a year at least with just the occasional stropping mainly just to clean the edge..

I’m not really a knife guy, but holy shit that testing was crazy and seems like a real quality one there

I’m pretty sure my dad has the 1st gen of a knife similar to this one; if I can find it and resharpen it (I remember it being sharp as a brick) I’ll prolly start carrying it Update: I found it, sharpened it, started using it for firewood, kindling, and as a multitool (if I couldn’t do it with my hands I’d reach for the knife) and it didn’t even lose it’s edge when I used it to cut into a tube with metal wires in it. I haven’t had a ton of knives, but considering you can still get a damn near identical knife for like $70 is crazy. Get one
